PARIS IN SECRET DEAL
Fury at her 'special treatment'
PARIS Hilton was freed early from jail yesterday - in a secret deal thrashed out THREE weeks ago.
Prison authorities insisted Hilton, 26, was "reassigned" to her LA home - after just THREE days of her 45-day sentence - because of a confidential medical condition.
She will spend 40 days under house arrest and has been fitted with an ankle tag.
But well-placed sources claimed: "This was all decided about three weeks ago, shortly after Paris was sentenced."
Last night, hotel heiress Hilton gushed: "I have learnt a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes. I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and staff of Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally."
But Association of LA Deputy Sheriffs president Steve Remige blasted: "There appears to have been preferential treatment. This isn't the first time this has happened. Remember Mel Gibson."
He claimed Hilton could have been treated in the Californian prison's huge medical facility.
US legal expert Susan Filan said: "It makes a mockery of the legal system. It is nothing other than special treatment."
Steve Whitmore of the LA County Sheriff's Department would not give details of Hilton's condition and said he did not know if it was pre-existing.
There have been fears over her mental health amid claims she has been crying, could not eat or sleep, refused her meal on Tuesday night and developed a rash. But furious fellow inmates last night claimed Hilton conned jail chiefs and was in perfect health during her stay.
Cynthia Chavez, 53, said: "She would have had to been dying to get transferred out."
Lags also said the Simple Life star tried to befriend them by buying the whole prison burgers and fries.
Inmate Johanna Garcia, released hours after Paris, said: "It must have cost a fortune. She did it every day for three days. We just don't get food like that normally."
Prisoners are allowed to order food from outside, but have to pay for the privilege.
Hilton was sneaked out of the women-only jail at 2.09am yesterday after "extensive consultations" with her private psychiatrist and prison doctors.
She served just three full days but as she arrived late on Sunday and left early on Thursday, officials took five days off her original 45-day term.
Her sentence had earlier been reduced to 23 days for "good behaviour" but that was scrapped after the decision to allow her home.
When Hilton was sentenced, Judge Michael T Sauer said he would not consider an ankle tag as her crime was so serious. He was "consulted and advised" about her release. She was jailed for violating probation after getting behind the wheel while suspended for drink-driving.
Last night, Hilton's Simple Life co-star Nicole Richie, 25, said she feared she might be jailed.
She pleaded not guilty in February to driving under the influence. Richie told The Late Show: "I'm scared but willing to face the consequences."

Well TMZ reported her shrink saying she wasn't well on May 15th.
I think that the Hiltons & their doctors set this up, not necessarily with the LA legal peeps.
This Dr. Charles Sophy is alledged to have leaked papers in the Michael Jackson case, when employed by LA City.... so he's a fame-whore & he's just hitching his wagon to the biggest train available to him!
Do these professionals have NO professionalism these days? Sophy, Opri,... the list goes on....
Hilton's Shrink: Paris is a Wreck

Paris Hilton's delicate state of mind is keeping her out of the courtroom ... for now.
According to a declaration filed by Dr. Charles Sophy, a psychiatrist who has seen Paris "off and on" over the last six months, Hilton is "not capable of any meaningful participation" in a civil trial brought against her by diamond heiress Zeta Graff. In a $10 million lawsuit filed in 2005, Graff claims that Hilton spread "vicious lies" about her that were printed in the New York Post.
Paris' shrink claims that Hilton is "emotionally distraught and traumatized" from the May 4 hearing where she was sentenced to 45 days in jail for breaking probation in her DUI bust, and asked a judge to allow her sufficient time to recover. In the document, the head-doc goes on to explain that Hilton "Cannot effectively respond to examination as a witness or provide any significant input into her defense." In fact, Sophy claims that forcing Paris to participate on May 21 would "exacerbate her current mental condition." The horror!
As a result, the judge has postponed the trial date until August 22.
Calls to Hilton's rep were not immediately returned.
