Victoria Beckham Quits £10m Us Tv Show
LOYAL Victoria Beckham walked out on her £10million US TV series to support hubby David's England comeback - after insisting: "My family will always come before my career."
Posh, 33, was fuming when producers of the fly-on-the-wall series about her move to America insisted she must fly out to Los Angeles this week for a fortnight's filming.
It would have meant she had to miss not only Becks's much-heralded England return against Brazil tonight - but the vital Euro qualifier against Estonia on Wednesday and his final game for Real Madrid next week.
A US source said: "She told producers she was not going to miss David's England game and they seemed unwilling to compromise.
"It's also his last Madrid match next week and she'd told them months ago that she was going to be by his side - but they seemed to expect filming to take precedence.
"It's a real sacrifice for her as the TV series was a great launch-pad for her career over there. But she felt she was being pushed into a corner and David was obviously always going to take priority."
TV Channel NBC has been billing the series as a hilarious look at the Spice Girl-turned-businesswoman's move to America.
It was scheduled to be the jewel in the crown of the station's autumn schedule.
President of NBC Entertainment Kevin Reilly said a few weeks ago: "The series will give viewers a glimpse into what makes Victoria so popular and admired as one of the most glamorous women in the world."
After all the hype, NBC executives were stunned when the mum of three told them David came first. They are now frantically trying for a compromise and hope to schedule a one-off, hour-long special instead.
The source said: "The series was going to be a highlight of the channel's autumn season and now that's all up in the air.
"Victoria was told she had to fly out to Los Angeles this week for a fortnight to film six half-hour episodes back-to-back. She told producers there was no way. It really put the cat among the pigeons.
"Victoria is always happy to fulfil her obligations and she'll fly out at the end of June to do another week's filming. But that will only give the network about half an hour's footage on top of the half hour they shot last month.
"Vic is fiercely loyal to David - the whole move to Los Angeles was for him and his career in the first place. She was in tears when she heard he'd been recalled to the England squad as she knew that was his ultimate dream.
"She had a real laugh during the initial filming of the series last month.
"But there is absolutely no way she'd have sacrificed being there to spur him on as he played against Brazil tonight just to do a TV show - regardless of how much it would help her profile in the US."
Victoria and David move into an £11million Beverly Hills mansion next month ahead of his first match for new team LA Galaxy.
They are launching themselves upon the American public with a joint photoshoot for prestigious US fashion mag W. Posh has also signed deals in the States to distribute her denim designs and a forthcoming range of shoes.
Her spokeswoman said yesterday: "Victoria has had great fun filming the show. However the schedule was incredibly tight and it is up to the network what happens next."

She's bailing because she knows we aren't that interested in her and the show will bomb.

This is how I read it: the stuff they got on film isn't as good as they had hoped. Combined with the snotty stuff that's been in the press about her staged photo shoot at the sex shop, etc. they've decided to put together the footage as a one off, hoping to at least squeeze something out of the money already spent.
Alternatively, maybe she learned her lesson from when he stepped out on her while she was always in the States working on a single and her jeans line and has decided that she should put her family first.
Not sure which theory I'm going with yet.

I like the first one best Butt!
Plus that the interest in her TV show isn't up to what the producers hoped it would be.
Oh - how did they tell the difference between the blow-up doll & Posh? Did the doll's animation give it away?
I also can't believe the "she going to attend the footie matches stuff" coz the last photos I saw of her watching a match she looked bored shitless!

If it is true, then I think she is very family focused.
She is a bitch, she is rich and all that but when it comes to her family she shows she really loves 'em.
That is good.

Yes, she's always bored-looking or completely distracted and disinterested in what's going on in the field. The sportscasters here always make fun of her when they catch her looking bored out of her mind!

I've seen a few, actually.
I don't think she's this self-centred.

Yeah, both she and the network probably wanted to bail once they saw what shit it was and how no one was interested enough to watch. If she were really breaching contract they'd find a way to sue her as they'd be losing money, I'd think. But since they've realized no one will watch this pretentious tripe, they're actually cutting their losses by not filming anymore, and she gets to save face and pretend like she puts her family first.

Maybe I've missed them then, because all I've seen is her shopping and shopping and shopping...

I see pictures of her with her kids quite often. I know one child has a medical condition and the flash of camera's and other stuff like that can set off seizures so they try to keep him very sheltered. That's what I read anyway.

No way does having to push filming back 2 weeks force a show to be canceled or turned into a one off special, especially a show that the network is as excited about as this article makes it seem. Most likely the series is rubbish and/or NBC just realized nobody really cares about Posh in the States and they're trying to cut their losses. So Posh's PR people have tried to put this spin on it.
