Jessica Simpson and John Mayer's shock split seems to have been short-lived - the guitarist was spotted leaving the pop star's New York hotel early yesterday morning (21May07).
Representatives confirmed the couple's nine-month romance had ended at the beginning of last week (beg14May07), but Simpson refused to talk about the split during press interviews at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
But, upon her return to America on Sunday (20May07), it seemed the couple only had reconciliation in mind.
A guest who spotted Mayer leaving Simpson's suite at the Soho Grand tells In Touch Weekly magazine, "He was looking really happy. He couldn't stop smiling."
But a Simpson pal insists the couple has got some way to go before they start thinking about a long-term future together: "They definitely went on a date last night. She still loves him... but he's scared of commitment. He breaks up with her and then regrets it and then begs her to get back together."
He left her for man sex .. he must have gotten some good stuff in a hurry if he wanted her back that soon.
