50 Cent's movie pulled from Pittsburgh theater
Quote:
50 Cent is saddened by the fatal shooting at a Pittsburgh-area theater where his movie “Get Rich or Die Tryin”’ was playing.
The Loews Cineplex in West Homestead pulled the rapper's controversial semi-autobiographical flick on Thursday, a day after a man, Shelton Flowers, who had come for the opening night of Fiddy's film debut, got into an argument with others inside the bathroom around 11 p.m. The altercation spilled out into the concession area, where gunshots erupted and Flowers was struck twice, according to eonline.com.
The 30-year-old man died at the hospital.
Nobody was arrested yet.
According to Loews' Vice president of marketing, John McCauley, the theater chain was still trying to determine to what extent Get Rich may have been factor in the shooting.
"We're unclear whether there is a direct connection", McCauley told Associated Press.
"I feel for the victim's family in this situation", 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, said on ABC's The View on Friday. "But you know, these weren't kids. This was a 30-year-old man [who] had a dispute with three other guys", the famous rapper added.
Paramount agreed to get some additional security at some theaters.
The LA police took up posts on the rooftops of buildings near the famed Chinese Theater at the "In Da Club" rapper's Hollywood premiere last week.
50 Cent’s movie has been slammed by community activists in Los Angeles and Philadelphia in the past weeks.
The billboards promoting Get Rich or Die Tryin, showing 50 Cent holding a gun in his left hand and a microphone in the other, were removed from gang-ridden neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, the film's soundtrack is expected to top the album charts next week and Vivendi Universal Games will release the 50 Cent videogame Bulletproof on November 22. Bulletproof will feature three new tracks and over eight hours of music from 50 Cent and other G-Unit members.

Sad story!
I saw 50 Cent on The View the other day and have to say I was unexpectedly surprised by how much I liked him.

Re: 50 Cent's movie pulled from Pittsburgh theater
i mean what did they expect- i learned years ago that most of the "black movies" with violent or hip hip overtons and star open on a Wed to avoid large crowds and crazy shit on the weekends.. the only movies with an all black cast that will open on a normal weekend would be something like Hotel rwanda or something light hearted and non threatning..
