Cillian Murphy now an atheist
Murphy Turns Atheist After Work on Sci-Fi Thriller

HOLLYWOOD - Irish actor Cillian Murphy has lost his faith in God after working on new sci-fi thriller Sunshine.
Murphy, who heads up the annihilation of the sun in the Danny Boyle-directed movie, spent time with a number of scientists to prepare for the role--and ended up losing any belief in a bigger being.
He says, "I was agnostic before this film. Now I'm very much an atheist.
"Not just because I spent time with these guys--they just confirmed what I'd always suspected.
"For me, the film ultimately is a battle between science and religion, or science instead of fundamentalism."

Going from Agnostic to Atheist isn't exactly 'losing your faith in God'. I can be either of those things, depending on the day of the week!
The movie sounds very interesting, definitely one to check out.

well considering agnostic means that you dont believe in the traditional view of god and religion it isnt that big of a step really.

Not exactly. Agnosticism is about not knowing, one way or another, whether there is such a thing as God (and all the metaphysical beliefs associated with that). Atheism is the established belief that there is no God. What you're describing above doesn't seem to fit the definition of Agnosticism-a person could be spiritual in their own way without embracing any traditional views of god or religion.
