Default Oprah almost made Joaquin Phoenix throw up

JOAQUIN PHOENIX was so nervous about promoting new movie WALK THE LINE on the OPRAH WINFREY SHOW, the talk show queen had to coax him onto the stage.

The actor - who plays JOHNNY CASH in the new biopic - tried to back out of the chat, because he feared vomitting on TV.

Oprah, who is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the show, tells US TV show Extra, "Nervous is not the word. He was a wreck. I've never seen nervous like that before.

"I had to go in the green room, and literally said to him, 'You don't have to put yourself through this.' He said, 'I think I'm going to throw up.'"

I will always love this man for his performance in 'parenthood'. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Love him.

Yeah, that scene where he calls up his dad to ask if he can live with him? Absolutely gorgeous...a primer in understated acting. Now, if I could only pronounce his name.

^^ Totally heartbreaking scene. When he says 'it's your son...no not Joey, your OTHER son'. HARSH. He was great!! And so young!

Maybe he thought close proximity to Oprah would lead to him exhibiting odd behavior, ala Tomkat.

He's shy. He doesn't like interviews to begin with, and he's somewhat notorious for being skittish with interviewers.

Besides, if I had to go out in front of those screaming Oprah drones, I'd probably be a little sick, too.

Like screaming and yelling and arm wrestling poses whilst saying what a brilliant movie he was just in? Just before breaking down crying and trying not to say mean things about Angelina..... then a sad attempt to wrestle Oprah?Introducing the whole cast of the movie and vowing he was in love with all of them?
Not a good idea to go on Oprah for some stars.........poor nervous little thing.

I thought he was going to puke because he saw Oprah without makeup.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!! I LOOOOOOOOVED PARENTHOOD!!! FOR MANY YEARS IT WAS ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOVIES!!! You wanna know somethin'? I remember thinking, "Who is this kid? He's so damn good! Look out for him, he's gonna be huge!" And then... nothing. Not one single little peep from Lief Phoenix. I was so disappointed! And then I saw To Die For (Nicole Kidman movie, absolutely brillliant), and I was like "Who the hell is this Joaquin Phoenix? Where'd he come from? Where's Lief? How many Phoenixes are there and why are they all brilliant actors?" It wasn't until a few years later that I found out: Joaquin Phoenix was Lief Phoenix! Much to my surprise, and much to my delight, Lief Phoenix was back!!! Yea!!!

Regarding the Oprah thing: Joaquin Phoenix is a big ole freak. And he's a very sensitive young man. It doesn't sound like he was on anything, just sounds like a sensitive freak with extreme stage fright. And the frog on his head thing? Show me the tape and I'll decide.

Before I forget, I gotta say: I am so good at spotting the next big thing it's scary. The past 3 that come to mind are (in chronological order): Natalie Portman (The Professional), Scarlett Johanson (Manny & Lo), Dakota Fanning (an episode of CSI, in which she spoke only once, and it was a single word: "Buffalo!").
