They must love living where they actually can take a walk to the bakery with their kids and not be accosted. I would imagine there are few paps down there waiting for the money shot as opposed to LA or NY.

In the south, we don't accost everyone who looks familiar...

My Mom's whole family is in the San Antonio area. My Uncle goes out of his way to be extra obnoxious about how great Texas is. He had my daughter convinced (when she was younger) that Texas was it's own country and she needed a passport to enter. LOL
Every once in a while I crave dinner at Matera's, Alamo Cafe or even Taco Cabana. Can't get the good Mexican food up here. The few good places make the foods that are more like California Mexican not Texan Mexican. Also love Whata Burger.

He's been talking to Bush too, hasn't he?
I've only ever met 2 texans & they were the "Daddy has a cattle ranch as big as England, you're just a girl so shut up & look good" variety.... It didn't make me want to go visit, but I shouldn't judge on just 2 people I guess... (ok then both Bushs were elected & kind of emphasised my experience...)

oh! I never know when you're joking & when you're not! So I looked it up & I have a question..... if they're born somewhere else, but move to & grew up in a second place... couldn't they be considered from there?
(I can't believe that you made me look this up! When to the whitehouse website & EVERYTHING!!!! Hold on he swings between Midland & Texan - & how do you have a Govenor that's not Texan? Is that really legal? He might just be going for a safe seat.....)

In Texas, there are the ones who are native and the ones who say "I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could". Native Texans never consider the "others'' real Texans - or even naturalized, I don't think you can change where you're from. I'm from Louisiana but I live in Texas. Most Texans will tell you Bush is not a Texan - who is going to claim him now!

LOL! They (the "real" Texans) should be flattered. We (ok, I) got the impression that he was highly thought of, etc etc. I guess it's the same with politics everywhere.
To get back on topic ..... Why do some people assume that Celebs/stars/etc don't want to be photographed when they're not "on"? They all have this narcissistic gene-thingy... And I'm pretty sure in these days of trusts and privacy laws that if they hadn't wanted anyone to know that they'd bought a home in New Orleans, they wouldn't.

I went to Lake Charles, Louisiana on a business trip and I was really eager to try the food down there. I was so disappointed. Everything was slathered in gravy or some sort of sauce, or mushy, and I had this bodin (sp) sausage that had pork and rice and seasonings, and the casing it was in about made me throw up. I couldn't believe it. I tried jambalya, gumbo, po boys, boiled crawfish, catfish and etoufee (sp?) just to name a few things. It was the consistency of everything that got to me, I think.
I felt so bad because my clients went out of their way to show me a good time and were just the nicest hosts (in fact, everyone there was so kind and gracious). They knew I'd never been to that part of the country and they took me to all these authentic hole-in-the-wall type places where I could get real cajun food. Then they'd all stare at me as I took a bite of something and regardless of whether or not I liked it I would put a big smile on my face and say "yummm...!!!"
No offense meant whatsoever if you're from there. It just didn't sit well with me. I did like the beignet's though.

Lake Charles is ok, but if you want the traditional fares (made like they should be), head farther south. You can't beat the people anywhere. I don't like the casing on boudin either - take it off and throw it in the trash ICK! All those other foods should have been fine, but if it's food you don't eat ordinarily, you may not like it. It's ok, I'm not offended - I didn't cook it. If I had, you would have loved it and never wanted to leave here!
