Heather Locklear and Denise Richards try out for the same role

As further evidence that American television lacks any creativity, ABC is getting set to begin taping “Football Wives”, which is a port of a UK television show called “Footballer Wives” (wow, even the title lacks creativity), which focuses on a group of wives of pro football players.
Michael K at DListed reports that the show’s pilot director, none other than Bryan Synger, wants Heather Locklear to play the lead wife. In an interesting twist of fate, it seems that Heather’s bitter enemy Denise Richards tried to nab the same role before.

Lucy Lawless beat out Heather Locklear and Denise Richards? (updated)

I had previously posted that babes Heather Locklear and Denise Richards had auditioned for the lead role in an upcoming ABC television series, Football Wives. At the time it seemed like the pilot’s director himself, Superman Returns directory Bryan Synger, hand-picked Heather.
Now it might be none other than Lucy Lawless who nabbed the role. Although she doesn’t specify which role she got, Lucy does write on her official website that she definitely has a “lead role”.
Update: Okay, I’m calling it; Lucy Lawless definitely beat out Heather and Denise. The official Xena fan club posted that Lucy said “she plays the head wife”, which is the part in question.

The funny thing is that Footballers Lives requires as much acting talent as.... well... as having sex with a over-weight rocker.....

I know that the US send us some utter rubbish, but I'd have thought that considering that you've (the US) got The Office, are getting Life On Mars that you'd have kept up the quality... but no.....

I like Heather a lot, but I'm insanely jealous as I just read over at PerezHilton that she's managed to snag JacK Wagner, her former Melrose Place co-star and one of the hottest men in Hollywood. I'm sure he's helping her cope with the loss.

Over 10 years ago, Jack Wagner and Heather Locklear played lovers on “Melrose Place.” It’s taken them a long time to make their TV romance, real. The two showed up hand-in-hand to Jeffrey Katzenberg’s The Night Before on Saturday night.
A witness said, “They looked very much like a couple - they seemed very comfortable together. They stayed close to each other during the party and they even left hand in hand.”
Heather recently broke it off with David Spade. Amanda and Peter were probably my favorite couple on the show. I loved when he almost killed her ass on the operating table. They make a hot couple and this ho deserves someone hot.

Nooooo! Oh I love Jack Wagner. I was always surprised that his career didn't do better. He's hotter than Brad Pitt imo. Good for Heather. He's an upgrade from David Spade, for sure.

They are together, they were at Mr Chow's the other night (Heather is becoming somewhat of a Chow-whore these days, got to keep the papz taking those ''candid'' pictures which is something she didn't do during at least 11 of the 12 years she was with Richie, clearly she wants the publicity now)

Anyway, I think this is pretty low-down of Heather towards Jack's wife, who Heather and Richie used to hang out and were close friends with. Not only did Kristina endure years of Melrose sex-scenes between them, but he REEEAAALLY screws around on her, they flit between reconciling and separating for years, she filed for divorce a second time in 2005, managed to stabilise that relationship (and looked to be getting back together by all accounts not that long ago) and now he turns around and dates a former co-star and someone Kristina was close to? It can't be easy to put your trust in someone like Kristina did in Heather, to watch her get in bed on TV with her husband every week, and now they're together in real life?

I'm just not so sure its that great thats all; though clearly everyone else loves Heather I just don't so maybe i'm biased by that. I happen to think shes an extremely media-savvy and media-obsessed career woman who is reaching desperation point so woe betide anyone (incl her not yet ex husband, hence filing for divorce) who doesn't fall into line with her plans and help her get her botoxed face back on TV. Jack is yet another in what will be a pretty darn long line of men whilst she tries to achieve this and keep her name in the tabloids in her usual subtle way...hence the strategic Oscar party debut and restaurant publicity blaze we've got now.

If Heather started dating a good friend's hubby while they're still married, then she's doing the same thing Denise Richards did to her. She must believe in paying it forward.

Yeah, and how many men has Heather been through in the past year? She's certainly getting herself some action but seriously, David Spade?! I still havent' got over that one, and that was BEFORE she filed for divorce, as well as Tommy...Heather and Richie were over and Heather was already dating so how did Denise end up the bad guy? I don't get that personally. Clearly Heather decieed her end of the marriage deal ended before Richie's was allowed to.

Hasn't Jack been cheating on Kristina for years, even before Melrose? I thought that they were divorced.

I think you're right about Heather's desperation though. I recently saw her on a Lifetime movie with Jonathan Schaech. She looked really, really bad. Very puffy. I was surprised. So I do think her career is on the downslide. It's too bad about Kristina, but I think she hung onto Jack way longer than she should have. He's a serial cheater.

I don't know - I believe this story. Jack's always had a thing for Heather. They're both single so why would it be so hard to believe? Plus, there are pictures to prove it.

As for Kristina, I remember reading that for years her General Hospital co-stars (as much as they loved Jack too) pleaded with Kristina to leave him. He always has been notorious for his cheating ways. She went back and forth and finally started legal proceedings a few years ago, then reconciled with him. I also recall reading not too long ago that Jack has tried to reign himself in because he's realizing that as his boys get older, they are looking at him as a 'moral compass' and that scared him.

TBH I've never heard of this bloke... but at least it wasn't her bestfriend that pleaded with her to divorce her husband & then dated him....

I found it funny that Lucy Lawless got the main role!
Incidently there are lots of female charactures in this series, so let hope that they find each one a bit part, eh?

This is such bullshit. I LOVE the British Footballers' Wive$. Why did they have to rip off that show, of all shows. Lucy Lawless has nothing on Tanya Turner.
