A man best known for posing in his underpants has said that he is glad he was not chosen as one of the leads in Brokeback Mountain.
So are we Wahlberg!
Mark, 35, was first famous for his genius as a rapper and went on to have a very successful career as a movie actor. He was particularly convincing in Planet of the Apes.
Anyway, he has revealed that he was considered for a role in Brokeback Mountain, but the idea of man-sex freaked him out too much.
"I met with (BM director) Ang Lee on that movie, I read 15 pages of the script and got a little creeped out. It was very graphic, descriptive - the spitting on the hand, getting ready to do the thing," he told contactmusic.com
"I told Ang Lee, 'I like you, you're a talented guy, if you want to talk about it more...' Thankfully, he didn't."
You are thankful? What about us?
Wahlberg also said he has not actually seen the film because "it's just not my deal."

Guys who have to talk about how freaked out they are about homosexuality have issues. Marky Mark doth protest too much.
he might have been good in Brokeback. I thought he was really good in The Departed. He's talented, but I suspect he's a tool.

He's supposed to be an "actor" for crying out loud! You are supposed to "act". I don't suppose his real life is anything close to the movie The Departed.....it's a role.
Weird.

Yeah, I think he did the same thing after Boogie Nights.

I watched E!Hollywood story of Mark Wahlberg the other day and was quite shocked to find out that he had racist tendancies when he was young (went to juvie? He robbed this Asian dude and caused him to lose an eye while high on Angel Dust...) The show also mentioned he made homophobic comments when he had an argument with Madonna in the 90's...

I felt bad for him during the Oscars that they mentioned how many times he was arrested in Boston during his youth. He didn't look thrilled to be reminded so publically.

Christ, gay men have been getting married and banging their wives for years! Surely he could've taken a little simulated ass pounding and "pretended" that he loved it for the money.

Um, I like his body, but...
He was racist in his youth, and a thug, and not that educated...so I hope he got some education and got over his hangups...

Gimme a break. It's a movie. It's not real. That dick you wore in Boogie Nights wasn't real. The sex scene in Brokeback wasn't real. Get over it you fucking homophobe.

For his genius as a rapper? That made me laugh out loud. I don't think Marky Mark's a genius anything. I mean that wasn't even his gigantic shlong on Boogie Nights. If having a chiseled torso and parading around in Calvin Klein boxers makes you a genius then yeah, I guess.

He had the right to refuse the part if he was not comfortable with it. He may not have done the character justice if he was uncomfortable.
That is reality....not everyone is going to be comfortable with gays, lesbians or other races from their own....the sooner people realize this, the better.
