Mel C considered suicide after being called 'Sumo Spice' and refuses Spice reunion
Quote:
Mel C considered suicide after being called "Sumo Spice".
The former Spice Girl says the pressure to lose weight at the height of the band's fame led her to become clinically depressed and she even considered ending her life.
Mel - real name Melanie Chisholm - began to binge eat and exercise constantly because she felt under such pressure to stay slim.
The 33-year-old told ITV documentary 'The Truth About Size Zero': "I started to think, 'I have to be perfect to be worthy of this crown.' "
Meanwhile, Mel is reportedly refusing to agree to a Spice Girls reunion because she wants to concentrate on her solo career.
The band's former manager, Simon Fuller, has urged Mel's old bandmates Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell to persuade her to reunite for a six-month world tour.
Fuller said: "Mel C thinks her solo career is bigger than the band, which is just not the case. She needs to wise up and realise a reunion would be amazing for everybody concerned."
Fuller, who founded the group in 1994, insists the reunion would only be temporary.
He said: "The Spice Girls will come back with a big bang. They will do a whirlwind tour for six months and then be gone again."
The Spice Girls - who also comprised of Victoria Beckham and Mel B - were one of the most successful girl groups of all time, selling 53 million albums worldwide.

Hasn't she been "working" on her solo career since they broke up? I think it's NOT working, Sporty. Time to get back in the spice rack.

Aww, bless. I like Mel C - she seems normal! I really think that she should reconsider getting back with the band though as currently her solo career is dead in the water.

She did a song with Bryan Adams that I just love - When You're Gone. She looked perfectly fine in the video, which I caught on YouTube the other day [just before the copyright police yanked it].

I think she had the best voice out of all of them (not saying much, I know).
I always felt that Mel C was a bit of a tomboy and couldn't handle the stupid bitchiness that I feel went on a lot in the Spice Girls. She didn't seem as superficial as the others.
And she certainly wasn't fatter than Geri used to be in the Spice Girl days.
I hope she doesn't reunite with them.

She has had the most successful solo career of all the spices and she is the most talented. I really liked her first album especially the song "Never be the same again" which she wrote and dueted with Left Eye from TLC. Its probably one of my fav songs of all time and im not ashamed to admit it. As for the a reunion she has millions in the bank anyway so why would she bother?

I'd forgotten about that song! I really like her voice & agree that she's the most talented (& probably the only Spice Girl that can actually sing...).
Simon Fuller only wants them to get back together so he can get his percentage. Isn't he the one that sh*gs his clients? Or was that the one with the Appleton girls?
Nope googled it - him & baby spice.....

I figure they'll have a much harder time dragging Victoria Beckham down from her ivory tower in order to tour for the common folk.

No shit, Laurent - I'm thinking that one wants the world to forget that she ever "worked" for a living.

But daaaarling, one wasn't working, one was just pre-celebrity....
Can you imagine her on tour? On a tour bus? How long would you give it before it was mass-murder when ego met ego?)
