Bald Britney blows away ebay
Monday Feb 19 15:00 AEDT

Britney Spears' decision to shave her head has not only shaken her fans but sent a ripple of activity and opportunism through online auction site ebay.
Sellers claiming to possess locks of the pop starlet's hair appeared on the site barely hours after news came through of her shocking self-cropping.
While some of the advertisements struggle to convince potential purchasers of their authenticity — most notably by parading locks of the wrong colour — two vendors using the pseudonyms kruse7631 and globalresell are attracting apparently genuine four-figure bids.
And local fans who are keen to get a piece of Britney can purchase without fear — Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service spokesman Carson Creagh says importing human hair is not prohibited under current regulations.
"There is the question of pests," Mr Creagh said, admitting that Kevin Federline "would be at the top of the list".
"The only concern would be potentially headlice — and they are found all over the world."
But barely a dozen of the 40 items that appear when one searches for 'britney spears hair' claim to be the singer's actual hairs themselves.
There is also a set of clippers that are touted as the ones used by Spears, website URLs and email addresses referring to the cut, joke advertisements for fur trimmed from pets named Britney and an interesting post from a Wagga Wagga woman claiming that her own "nicer" hair would make for a better investment.
There is also the social commentary exhorting web-surfers to "support a psycho with too much money".
"You are pathetic," goes the irresistible sales pitch. "Isn’t there something better you could spend your money on than the nasty hair of a washed-up pop star?"
One alternative would be having a chuckle at the advertisement for "hair. Yes, Brit's hair. Bid. Don't ask me harassing questions. Is it real? Is everything on ebay real? You be the judge. Have fun."
What might be less amusing for Britney is the complete lack of interest in Spears-related hair from earlier times.
Authenticated extensions taken from her scalp and clippings kept from previous trims have prompted no interest whatsoever.

Oh my Gawd, sorry Brit I do pity you but I would not touch your hair with a ten foot pole! Apparently the bid is up to 34million! are people nuts? Man those hairdresses must be laughing all the way to the bank

What are people going to do with her old hair? Surely they wouldn't attach it to their own

Yeah, it's scary that some people apparently have so much money they have nothing better to spend it on than a washed up celebrity's shaved off locks.
