ALLEN: ‘I’M A US CUSTOMS TARGET’

LILY ALLEN has annoyed US customs officials so much, the British singer now believes she’s targetted every time she enters the country.
The SMILE star insists American customs officers enjoy wielding their power over foreign visitors.
She says, "I love customs in America - they really enjoy their 10 minutes of power and I’m not good with people like that.
"They put me on a list, because now every time I get on a flight I have to have some full-on humiliating security search - which is fun."

The only words that spring to mind are "shut up you spoilt brat!!!"

Having just come back from LA, I have to say that the security people are courteous and professional; however I'm not a wanna-be-star who's up their own arse! Can you imagine how difficult she makes their job??

I have never had a problem with American customs. Yet, strangely enough, I find the Canadian customs people to be HUGE asses - AND I LIVE IN CANADA!

The reception you get depends more on the custom people you get than on the tourist personality - I can't see one starting a rant just to piss the customs guys off. I've had myself a very dodgy reception at San Francisco Airport while Miami staff were very nice when I found out my luggage had been lost, you never know what it's going to be but the worrying thing is they know they can go over the top and they're not accountable for their behaviour

And good luck if you're white flying in to Southern California. Those bitches act like they want and look for any little thing they can take away from you, while giving you the biggest evil eye and you can just tell they're thinking "die, bitch"

I used to fly backwards & forwards quite a bit & never had any problem.

LOL: in Delouth Minnisota, the baggage handlers even carried our baggage to the customs post for us!

I've flown in and out of SoCal all my life. I've never had a problem either.

It was only recently I started having a problem. When you're attractive AND look like mom, they've got two problems with you. Because they're young and excuse me for saying this but they're usually fug. I'm a friendly chatty sort so they can't claim I'm a bitch. They just love "getting you" and they let you know it.

I think it's all in the way you conduct yourself as a passenger. Let me make this perfectly clear, I'm not directing this to YOU MIRA.

Some people flying come across as being very demanding and obnoxious. They have attitudes. This was more bearable before 9/11. Customs has a very stressful job. I think they do have shorter fuses, but in my opinion, it's understandable.

Ah, but are you OLDER? Many people have a problem with parental figures. Anybody older is a parental figure to young people who have issues with their own parents.

I've never had a problem with American customs and I've dealt with Canadian customs once and it made me turn right back around and spend my evening in America.

I'm in my thirties. I still can't fathom why they would have any compulsion to harrass an older, white mother. that makes no sense to me. A woman in a burka, maybe. A man who looks to be of middle eastern descent, most probably. But a middle aged white woman? No.

So do you have problems with every younger customer service employee, wherever you go? If that were true, every older passenger would be having problems with customs agents, not just you.

I still believe most problems are the fault of the attitude of the passenger. If you want to be polite and accomadating, you experience will be better. Like I said, there are those that they no doubt profile, but a middle aged white mother is not on the list.

And make it good. Sociology is something I have a degree in.

Ah, I get it now. You are saying that you are harrassed by BLACK customs agents, correct? You didn't specify that in your post. I guess you should have written those BLACK bitches. You are talking about black people aren't you? Or is it all minorities that you think are raised to hate Whitey?

Growing up in Southern California, I've never felt that I've been discriminated against because I'm white. Again, I believe how you treat people can determine how they will treat you. That's just my experience.

I feel badly for you and Lily Allen, targeted by custom agents. It must be such a drag to travel!
