Default Oprah Winfrey helps murderer apologize

Oprah Helps Man Apologize for Murder
    Feb 1, 2:31 PM EST

    The Associated Press

DETROIT -- A 21-year-old man freed from custody for a murder he committed at age 11 has apologized to the victim's family, with help from Oprah Winfrey.

Nathaniel Abraham, who lives in Bay City, traveled to Chicago with the intent of appearing on Winfrey's TV show Wednesday. But the taping was canceled at his lawyer's request.

Hours before the planned taping, Abraham met in Winfrey's private office with the family of murder victim Ronnie Greene Jr., 18, whom Abraham shot with a rifle in 1997.

Abraham lawyer Daniel Bagdade watched the exchange and said Winfrey "kind of mediated the apology."

"It was very riveting. Nate's story was not on camera today. We ended up doing the apology in Oprah's office. It was incredible. It was absolutely incredible," Bagdade told The Detroit News.

Winfrey's Harpo Production Co. said Bagdade revoked Abraham's consent to appear on Winfrey's show.

Abraham was 13 when an Oakland County jury convicted him of second-degree murder. He finished serving his juvenile sentence Jan. 18.

Well utopia can only exist once Oprah does all the work for everyone...we are off to a great start. Or will that make her our overlord?
I'm using a lot of oxygen and such — I think it's good use of oxygen myself, but of course, I'm a little prejudiced on the matter.

Thats bullshit. I'd have trouble accepting the apology if I was the victim's family. I know they use this 'kids at that age dont know what they're doing' argument but bullshit- they know right from wrong, moreso nowadays when kids are 'adults' by the age of 8 in some cases. If I was the mother I'd be angry my sons killer was released.

Reminds me of the jamie bulger murder back in 1993 in the UK. 2 11, or 12, somewhere around that age year old boys horrificly murdered this 3 year old boy and they're out of jail now and were given new identities to protect them. They did unspeakable things to that poor little boy and they're out living their life now, with no one harassing them. I bet they needed the new countries, indentities. Someone would have killed them by now. The poor mother of the darling little boy- i cant imagine having to life with the memory of how brutally my 3 year old was murdered. Those 2 deserved to die for what they did, i dont care how old they were.
