Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey go head to head
Once they were Newlyweds but now it's all about the battle in the UK charts for Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey.
The couple, who divorced in June last year citing irreconcilable differences, are both planning to release their singles in the charts this side of the pond on 29th January.
As both tracks are about relationship breakdowns, it looks like the musical battle is personal.
Their three year marriage was highly publicised, with four seasons of the reality television show Newlyweds documenting the matrimony of stereotypical 'dumb blonde' to ex-member of 1990s boyband 98 Degrees.
Employee of the month star Jessica Simpson will release A Public Affair while Nick Lachey, who is currently dating America television presenter Vanessa Minnillo, releases What's Left of Me.
Jessica, who made her movie debut in 2005 as Daisy Duke in the Dukes of Hazard, is rumoured to be dating musician John Mayer.
And we doubt this is a fluke or a weird coincidence. Jessica's press release reads: "The fabulous Jessica Simpson nicks the spotlight on January 29th."
