RACHAEL RAY has stirred up a new deal with daytime talk queen OPRAH WINFREY! The likable cook/TV host/best-selling author is set to take on a daily, hourlong talk show produced by Oprah's Harpo Productions.
"People know me for my love of food, but I have so much more I want to share," Ray said. "Our show's going to be all about taking a bigger bite out of life. I want people to see themselves in this show, because life is full of messes and successes, and getting there is half the fun."
Oprah definitely saw the spark when she met Ray. "From the moment I had Rachael on my show earlier this year, I knew she had 'it,'" Oprah said. "She has that connection with her audience that most people only achieve one-on-one."
The show, which is scheduled to debut in the fall of 2006, is aiming to make viewers lives easier in a fun and simple way.
"You know the real deal when you see it, and that's exactly what Rachael Ray is," TERRY WOOD, president of creative affairs and development at King World and Paramount Domestic Television says. "We already know Rachael can make life easier in the kitchen, and now she'll do it for people in all other aspects of their lives. Rachael has a huge connection with the audience, and her comfortable, relatable style makes her perfect for daytime television."
Ray, who says she grew up in food, began her successful career working on the candy counter at Macy's in New York and now has a string of hit shows on the Food Network, including the very useful "30-Minute Meals" and the hard-to-believe "$40 Dollars A Day," where she travels to places like Paris to find the best restaurant values.
She also has a series of popular cookbooks, including 30-Minute Meals: Get Togethers and Rachael Ray Best Eats In Town On $40 Dollars A Day. Her highly anticipated 11th book, Rachael Ray 365: No Repeats: A Year of Deliciously Different Dinners, hits stores in November.

I'll probably check it out. Rachael Ray can be annoying, but I think it's kinda fun to watch her.

I love "$40 a day" but Rachel has a very annoying voice and manner of speaking (she flexes all her neck muscles when she talks). I think this just proves that ANYONE can have a talk show these days (if Oprah is your fairy godmother).

Pretty soon all of us will have gotten a talk show from Oprah. Dr Phil, Rachel Ray, etc. And that beard of hers has a pretty cushy job too at that 'magazine' Oprah has...

What experience does Rachael have that gives her the right to tell people how to live?
She's a cook. Not a psychiatrist. Not a personal advisor.

Really.
I do like her food related shows - I can't see her doing anything else.
