Isaiah Washington Issues Apology Over Anti-Gay Remarks
LOS ANGELES (January 18, 2007) -- "Grey's Anatomy" star Isaiah Washington has issued an apology after his homophobic remarks following Monday night's Golden Globes.
Here is Isaiah's statement released to Access Hollywood:
"I apologize to T.R., my colleagues, the fans of the show and especially the lesbian and gay community for using a word that is unacceptable in any context or circumstance. By repeating the word Monday night, I marred what should have been a perfect night for everyone who works on Grey's Anatomy. I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I've asked for help.
I know the power of words, especially those that demean. I realize that by using one filled with disrespect I have hurt more than T.R. and my colleagues. With one word, I've hurt everyone who has struggled for the respect so many of us take for granted. I welcome the chance to meet with leaders of the gay and lesbian community to apologize in person and to talk about what I can do to heal the wounds I've opened.
T.R.'s courage throughout this entire episode speaks to his tremendous character. I hold his talent, and T.R. as a person, in high esteem. I know a mere apology will not end this, and I intend to let my future actions prove my sincerity."
Earlier in the day, ABC issued the following statement regarding Washington's remarks:
"We have a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved," ABC said in a statement issued just moments ago. "Therefore," they added, "we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, language that he himself deemed "unfortunate" in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously . His actions are unacceptable and are being addressed."

These 180's are so questionable. I'd like to know the real story on this and what sparked his comments in the first place. Is he simply a jerk or is he justifiably disgruntled about something. Seems to be the former from the way cast members are behaving. Who knows though.

I've heard rumors about him being a nasty SOB for years, guess he's a homophobe also.

Only gay people should be able to say "faggot" - if Jamie Foxx's theory on shit like this is to be taken seriously.

Us fags have a long history of backing down in these situations. If the tables were turned and T.R. went on record as saying "I never called him a ("n" word)", he would not be trying to save his job by offering a forced apology because he would have already been fired.
My years of apologizing for being a flaming homo are long over. I want ABC to fire his ass, pronto. Actually, its already a little late - it should have been done immediately. I may not be able to change anyone's personal views on the "morality" of homosexuality, but I can demand equal treatment, even if it does have to be forced.

Just like that Michael Richards fiasco when he repeated the "N" word 9x on stage, I don't feel any sincerity when an 'apology' is given afterwards.
Apology, schma-pology, I still feel there's a deep hatred brewing deep, down inside Isiah, but he's just now saving face. I wonder if he still would have apologized had 'Grey's Anatomy' fired his ass.

Supposedly he said to Patrick, "I'm not your little f*ggot like TR"
Then at the Golden globes he said "No, I never called TR a F*ggot. Never happened"
