Default Kevin Federline to star in nation-wide insurance ad

The “artist” formerly known as K-Fed is set to star in his own Nationwide Insurance commercial set to run during the Superbowl Halftime Show.
Fed-Ex will be joining the illustrious ranks of entertainers like MC Hammer and Fabio (WOW!) to appear as a washed up has-been/never was to appear in a televised ad for the insurance giant.

Ooooooohhhh!!! For the same crappy insurance company that once employed several members of this board. Too ironically funny.

Here's a truthy-truth for you folks. Nationwide is NOT on your side, they seek to screw you over, take your dough and very slowly pay out claims.

Well, maybe Nationwide is a suitable employer for Federline, then. I think he looks pretty decent cleaned up, though he does give off an Eddie Haskell vibe.

Which genius in the marketing department decided to use K-Fed? Are they trying to imply that they'll steal your money?

    Mo' Info on said ad:

Kevin Federline is in. Britney Spears is out. Of the Super Bowl commercial game, that is.

Federline has Nationwide on his side. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., known for its "On Your Side" slogan, plans to run a national ad during the Super Bowl, and K-Fed has been tapped to star, the Columbus, Ohio-based company announced Wednesday.

The 30-second spot, to air during the third quarter of the Feb. 4 game, will be the latest installment in Nationwide's "Life Comes at You Fast" ad campaign. Previous celebrity ads in the series have featured Fabio and M.C. Hammer.

In the new commercial, Federline, 28, goes from starring in a rap video surrounded by beauties and bling to working at a fast-food joint.

"No one has personified 'Life Comes at You Fast' in the media better than Federline," said Steven Schreibman, Nationwide's vice president of advertising and brand management. "Our partnership with Kevin shows the world that he has a great sense of humor."

Spears, meanwhile, was rejected by the NFL from being part of a Super Bowl commercial for the NFL Network, according to a story in the New York Daily News on Tuesday.

Instead, L.L. Cool J and Rascal Flatts will be part of a cast of characters at a Super Bowl party thrown by Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver Chad Johnson.

Spears, 25, has filed for divorce from Federline. They were married for two years and have two children.

Federline's first rap album, "Playing With Fire," sold 6,500 copies in its first week of release.

This is funny. Campy, actually. He looks pretty good, but you're right ^^ in an Eddie Haskell sort of way. Still, it's a vast improvement!

This DEFINITELY does not make me want to buy Nationwide Insurance. How could they be so delusional to hire K-Fed?

K-Fed ad an insult to burger flippers!!

K-Fed flipping burgers? Group flips out over ad

Super Bowl spot that spoofs aspiring rapper riles restaurant association

Jan. 24: Some restaurant workers are upset over a new insurance commercial featuring aspiring rapper Kevin Federline working in a fast-food restaurant, according to report in the New York Post.

NEW YORK - A leading restaurant association has called for the cancellation of a TV commercial featuring Britney Spears’ estranged husband, Kevin Federline, as a failed rap star working in a fast-food eatery.

In a 30-second ad for Nationwide Insurance, Federline is shown dreaming he is a rap star but then snaps out of it to face reality — he’s working at a burger restaurant.

The commercial is due to be aired Feb. 4 during the Super Bowl, advertising’s biggest televised sporting event of the year. Last year’s Super Bowl drew more than 90 million viewers.

But the National Restaurant Association’s chief executive, Steven Anderson, has written to Nationwide saying the ad leaves the impression that working in a restaurant is demeaning and unpleasant, and asking that the commercial be dumped.

“An ad such as this would be a strong and a direct insult to the 12.8 million Americans who work in the restaurant industry,” wrote Anderson, head of the association that represents 935,000 U.S. restaurants. “Developing creative concepts that accomplish the marketing strategies for a product should not require denigrating another industry.”

But Nationwide spokesman Eric Hardgrove defended the ad, called “Life Comes At You Fast,” saying it was designed to be entertaining, with Federline poking fun at himself while reinforcing the company’s role of meeting the financial needs of consumers.

Spears, 25, filed for divorce from aspiring rapper Federline, 28, in November. Federline’s debut album has since failed to make a dent in the pop charts, and a number of dates on his U.S. tour were canceled due to lack of interest.

“In this commercial we are using a humorous characterization of Kevin Federline’s life to encourage others to prepare for sudden changes in their lives,” Hardgrove said in a statement.

“The intent of the ad isn’t to offend or insult the many fine individuals who work in the restaurant industry. The focus of the ad is the element of surprise, not the setting of a fast food restaurant.”
