Rosie O'Donnell calls Barbara Walters a f#%& liar

January 9, 2007 -- THE tension between "The View" creator Barbara Walters and co-host Rosie O'Donnell, sparked by O'Donnell's feud with Donald Trump, boiled over yesterday morning when the portly comic called Walters "a [bleeping] liar."

The fight started around 8:30 a.m. when Walters, back from a two-week vacation, walked into the hair and makeup room at ABC studios and tried to hug O'Donnell, whom she hired onto the popular show.

According to spies, O'Donnell recoiled from Walters' touch and yelled, "You kept me in the newspapers this whole time!"

Both "View" producer Bill Geddie and Walters tried to calm O'Donnell. Walters told her, "I did everything I could to squash the story" - prompting Rosie to scream, "You didn't call me for 10 goddamn days, and you didn't tell me what you were going to say on television!"

O'Donnell is fuming because Trump went on Larry King two weeks ago - after she had called Trump a "snake-oil salesman" - and said Walters told him she regretted hiring O'Donnell. Trump also blasted the comic as "a horrible human being and a loser."

During her vacation, Walters issued a carefully worded statement saying, "I'm sorry there is friction between Donald and Rosie. That said, I do not regret for one moment my choice to hire Rosie O'Donnell as the moderator of 'The View.' "

After O'Donnell's outburst at Walters yesterday, Geddie jumped in and told her, "You've crossed the line." O'Donnell retorted, "Cameras are now outside of my house where my wife and kids are." She turned to Walters and said, "You went all around this and never called [Trump] a liar. You never said, 'Donald is lying.' You never called him a liar."

When Walters tried to defend herself, O'Donnell erupted, "Are you looking me in the face and denying you didn't tell him you didn't say this? You're a [bleeping] liar."

Cindi Berger, a rep for both Walters and O'Donnell said, "Whatever happened in the hair and makeup room was hardly a squabble. It's business as usual, everyone has moved on."

I know a lot of people have been getting on Rosie but, I agree with her. Barbara has shown herself to be a liar in the whole Star Jones thing. Both Barbara and Trump are liars so I don't know who to believe.

If this is for real, the show isn't going to last much longer unless Walters kisses O'Donnells' arse (because she got the ratings up, of course).

Barbara never wants to be the bad guy, glad Rosie called her on that. Elizabeth and Joy are looking more sane by the day with all the drama.

I don't agree with Rosie - she's a fucking bully. I mean calling Barbara a liar when she hid her sexuality for so long and then outing other gay people - fuck Rosie - plus, that sick "crush" on Tom, he should've made her his beard years ago except then it would have been painfully obvious that he's got a thing for men!

I hate Babara. Every interview she ever does is such an ass kissing fest where she's a simpering idiot. She got busted. I have no doubt that she said those things about Rosie. She didn't want Trump mad at her, so she slammed Rosie to appease him.

Rosie probably won't stay at The View. It's too bad because she livened the place up.

Amen! This is getting REALLY interesting! It's obvious Rosie is trying to take over the show. It's not by design, she's just a huge diva and can't be content to be a team player.

Maybe after that first show where Rosie made comments Baba and The Donald got together and he's helping give her an excuse to get rid of Rosie without looking like the bad guy? That Baba is two-faced...gee, big surprise! But she'd be a dumbass to get rid of Rosie.

And Mel's call about when Rosie was in the closet and how she acted reminds me how irritating that was!

But I think everyone involved here...The Donald, Baba and Rosie...is an equal opportunity asshole.

Exactly.. can you tell she's dying to spout off and talk when anyone else is talking.. it kills her to wait her turn and sometimes she just doesn't.

I don't think so. I think there's a lot of history with this, and behind-the-scenes stuff we'll never know about. He's gunning for her. This kind of stuff is very rare. He knows his show is done. He'll spin it (he always does spin very well) but he knows.
