Eva Longoria and NBA star Tony Parker are engaged, PEOPLE has confirmed.
"Eva and Tony are officially engaged," Longoria's rep, Liza Anderson, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "The couple have never been happier."
Parker, a point guard for the San Antonio Spurs, flew into Los Angeles after his game on Wednesday night and surprised Longoria at her home as she got off work, according to the actress's rep, who added: "The proposal was romantic and perfect."
The couple plans to wed in France next summer in what they describe as a "big, happy ceremony with lots of family and friends."
Longoria, 31, and the French-born Parker, 24, met in November 2004. Though they played coy at first, by August 2005, the Desperate Housewives star confirmed they were a couple, asking PEOPLE rhetorically, "What's not to like?"
The pair weathered a brief split in September but quickly rekindled their relationship in Paris. The couple took in the sights, partied at the VIP Room and dined at the famed Le Coupe-Chou in the City of Light.
Longoria told PEOPLE in April she is happiest when in a relationship – and said she expects to stay with Parker "forever."

For some reason, I feel that Tony doesn't really like her. He never looks happy -maybe he's just not a smiley type of person- but still. I had that same inkling w/ Reese & Ryan when they were together (Ryan always looked so bitchy, lol!) Meanwhile, Eva is always grinning like an idiot around him and thinks she's the sh!t for snagging a younger man.

I've never been able to fathom the big deal about her or why she would even presume we'd have an interest in their relationship.
I'd never heard of him, but then again, basketball isn't big here in Canada. I'd never heard of her either until DHW. What I've come to know of her isn't too impressive. She seems too full of herself to be totally committed to marriage. I doubt very much it will happen.
