Scarlett Johansson has infuriated her neighbors by chain-smoking.
Quote:
The 22-year-old actress refuses to open her windows when she lights up and the smoke is wafting into the hall of her apartment block and causing a stink with the fellow residents.
"The Black Dahlia" star has reportedly turned to the nasty nicotine habit in a bid to get through a rough patch with her actor boyfriend Josh Hartnett, who is currently shooting "30 Days of Night" in New Zealand.
A neighbor revealed to Life and Style Weekly magazine that when he confronted Scarlett about the smell, with an apartment supervisor in tow, she snapped: "Don't you read the newspaper? I am going through a difficult time right now."
The supervisor then suggested she just open the window slightly to avoid further disagreements, to which Scarlett retorted: "Sure, I'll open the window, and that will fix everything."
Scarlett is reportedly still reeling over recent allegations that Josh was spotted enjoying a weekend in Sydney with his co-star, New Zealand actress Amber Sainsbury, sparking more rumors their relationship is on the rocks.

"Don't you read the newspaper? I am going through a difficult time right now"
Oh my god, for real? That sounds extremely arrogant. And i guess she just assumes that the newspapers are filled with stories about her and hartnett, i really doubt that. And i'm sure this man really pays attention to these rumors
Hartnett told aussie paparazzi to 'get fucked' when they were questioning him about the mystery girl, and she walked through the airport hiding her face the whole time. Apparently he's cheating on Scarlett. The fact that he spent a weekend holed up in a motel with this girl says abit more than just friends. I've read that its not the first time he's cheated on current girlfriends with girls on his film sets. And Scarlett should know; they got together on the set of the Black Dahlia.

I thought it was known that Scarlett has smoked for a long time now?

How on earth would you be able to smell smoke coming from the inside of her own apartment? Are her neighbours hanging round right outside her door or something? It's her apartment and she can do whatever the hell she likes inside it! Live and let live people...

I live in an apartment, and I used to smell cigarette smoke in my kitchen and my bathroom--and I don't even smoke. Obviously, my neighbors were smoking and the odor was wafting into my apartment.
People are entitled to do what they want in their own apartments, but why is it so hard to open a window or something when they're smoking? Scarlett just sounds like a selfish bitch.

^^Exactly. When you live an apartment building with other people around, you have to be at least somewhat considerate of the other people. I have severe asthma and cigarette smoke wafting into my apartment is enough to trigger an attack. And i'm certainly not the only one with this problem. "Selfish bitch" behavior indeed, IMO too.

I'm a smoker. But I always open a window. It's just consideration. And then I keep the window open for a while and spray Febreze. Scarlett needs to realize that she is an inconsiderate little bitch.
Oh, and by the way? I'm going through a tougher time than Scarlett. It doesn't give me an excuse to be self-centered.

Are you kidding me? What on earth are American apartments MADE out of - paper??? How can smoke pass through a brick wall???? In Britain people can DIE inside their apartments and nobody smells THAT for weeks! I just don't understand???

It depends on the ventilation in the house, not the walls. I run a business in an older building, and we smell smoke in the inner rooms sometimes; it wafts in through the ventilation system.

Hmm... I wonder if she really said that. That would change everything if she did, but if she didn't, I'd feel silly judging her.

We don't have brick walls between the apartments. In my apartment, we've got good ol' 2x4's insulation, and sheetrock seperating everyone. On the outside, we've got OSB waferboard and siding. No brick walls for us!

I always thought she looked older than what she is, but her maturity level screams 22 year old.
