Default Father of Madonna's adopted son weds

BLANTYRE, Malawi (AP) — The biological father of the 13-month-old Malawian toddler that Madonna wants to adopt has remarried, a relative said Saturday.

Yohane Banda married Flora Kamanga on Friday in a civil ceremony in his Lipunga Village in the central border district of Mchinji, said his cousin, Gedion Zimba.

"It was a colorful ceremony," Zimba said. "We are happy for him."

Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, were granted interim custody of the boy, David, by a High Court judge last month.

Kamanga, 22, who has a 2-year-old child from a previous relationship, is three months pregnant with Banda's child.

Banda, 32, was not immediately available for comment. In earlier interviews, he said that he met Kamanga, from nearby Noti Village, in April.

"I was still mourning my wife but I thought it was high time I found a partner," he said.

Banda's wife of 10 years, Marita, died last year of childbirth complications a week after giving birth to David. The couple had two other sons but they both died in infancy from malaria.

Malawi's High Court is to rule Nov. 20 on a challenge by a coalition of human rights and child advocacy groups on the proceedings surrounding the adoption by Madonna. The singer says she has met all the country's requirements for adopting the child.

maybe you don't need to respond if you don't care...it's kinda disrespectful towards the poster who started this thread in good intention hoping that the article would be of interest... I start a lot of gossip threads and when I read this type of response, it is kind of discouraging. But I prolly shouldn't take it so personal since people are just sharing their opinions...

Back to topic...I think it would complicate things a bit for Mr. Banda to have married because the new wife is already pregnant? The reason why David was put into an orphanage was because he couldn't afford to take care of him, no? Now how is he going to support his wife and the baby? I wonder if he is still expecting Madonna to return David one day since they seem to have agreed on temporary custody.

If you think it's crazy, you ain't seen a thing. Just wait until we're goin down in flames.

Agreed. Such comments are disrespectful and discourage people from posting. If people don't post, the forum goes down the tubes. Simple, really.

The evil stepmother picture at the bottom of Chalet's post is a nice match for the story. Interesting that her previous child is acceptable but his isn't. David's such a cutie too. It probably happens more than we think, though. I knew a woman who, along with her five siblings, was dumped in an orphanage so that her father could remarry and have six more kids. The new wife refused to raise someone else's children.

I've often heard that men are more accepting of women's children than women are of men's children. I think that says a lot about the so-called 'maternal' instinct.

    Thanks, Mods.

The story made me wonder why he wouldn't take David home and continue on with his new family. Twitchy and aabbcc made good points.

I'll go find another Katie Holmes hair article to keep my who cares status going.

Hmm, David was placed in the orphanage because, according to his father, he was unable to care for him financially. Now, he goes from supporting only himself to a new wife, her kid and the baby on the way. Wonder how much $$$ Vadge gave him.
