Stars fly in for Cruise wedding
Hollywood stars Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez were among the first guests to arrive in Italy for the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes this weekend.
Other guests spotted at Rome's Ciampino airport were actresses Jada Pinkett Smith and Brooke Shields.
Cruise, 44, and Holmes, 27, made their first public outing together in Italy on Wednesday at Rome's City Hall.
The marriage is widely expected to take place at the 15th century Castello Odescalchi near the Italian capital.
'Very excited'
Holmes' parents were also seen arriving at the airport.
"We are very excited for Tom and Katie," Martin Holmes told Sky Italia television.

Holmes and Cruise have been engaged since June 2005. They have a 7-month-old daughter Suri.
Cruise also has two other children whom he adopted with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.
The world's media has been descending on Italy for the wedding.
Residents with views of the castle in the town of Bracciano, 25 miles (40km) north-west of Rome, have been making the most of their time in the spotlight.
Cashing in
One private terrace overlooking the likely route into the castle and the internal car park was offered to a TV news agency for 100,000 euros (£68,000).
The Bracciano City Hall is renting windows of a nearby building, which has a view of the castle entrance, for 1,000 euros (£680) each.
Meanwhile, Cruise will play a US senator in his first film since Mission: Impossible III, according to reports.
He will star with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford in Lions for Lambs, a drama set in Afghanistan, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Where are all of Katie's old friends from Dawson's Creek, her childhood, etc... I guess I never realized that J-Lo, Jenny McCarthy & Brooke were friends w/Katie. (rolls eyes). I just don't get it.... the guest list looks like a movie premiere and all Tom's doing, not her's.

I do agree that it seems that once again he does have control of the whole thing...maybe we just don't hear about any of her childhood friends because they aren't "stars"...
If we didn't want to hear/read this kind of news, they would never report it in the manner that they do. There is a market for this type of "news". Every line in the grocery store is lined with 8 or 10 mags...they report it in this manner because we are hungry for it...and I am not ashamed

HOLLYWOOD - Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are just the latest in a string of celebrity couples to marry in the picturesque lakeside town of Bracciano, Italy.
Cruise, 44, and Holmes, 27, will marry on Saturday in the town's 16th century medieval Castello Odescalchi after a 19-month courtship.
CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour married former State Department spokesman James Rubin in the castle in August 1998, which was attended by the late John F. Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Carolyn Bessette.
Italian pop heartthrob Eros Ramazzotti and new wife Michelle Hunziker also had their wedding reception in the castle.
Twenty-eight years ago, legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese made Isabella Rossellini the third Mrs. Scorsese in the town. Rossellini grew up in Rome and had fond memories of Bracciano as a child.
As far back as the 1940s, celebrities were tying the knot in the town--original Zorro star Tyrone Power wed Mexican beauty Linda Christian there in 1949.
However, Bracciano may not be a good-luck charm for Holmes and Cruise--three of the four previous famous stars to marry in the town have divorced within four to six years later.
The Nov. 18 is also the wedding anniversary of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas; Queen guitarist Brian May and actress Anita Dobson; and late author Jack Kerouacand his third wife, Stella.

I, for one, cannot wait for the big event to be over and done with. I like gossip and all, but the overkill on this is already starting to get on my nerves. Especially when we know that 2-3 years from now it's going to be over!
