Bill Cosby settles sex-assault case out of court
Quote:
Bill Cosby settled a civil lawsuit filed by a woman who said the entertainer drugged and sexually assaulted her at his home outside Philadelphia.
Terms of the settlement will remain confidential, according to a one-paragraph statement issued Wednesday by the woman’s law firm.
Cosby’s publicist, David Brokaw, confirmed the settlement and said there would be no further comment.
The woman claimed that Cosby, 69, assaulted her at his mansion in Cheltenham in early 2004 after giving her pills. Attorneys for Cosby say the comedian gave the woman Benadryl after she complained of stress and sleeping problems.
The federal judge presiding over the case earlier denied Cosby’s request for a gag order and the plaintiff’s request to shield the names of a dozen other women who say Cosby assaulted them.
The plaintiff, a native of Ontario, Canada, who is in her 30s, previously worked at Temple University in Philadelphia, which touts Cosby as one of its most famous alumni. She is identified in court documents, but The Associated Press does not publish names of alleged sexual assault victims without their consent.
The woman, who called Cosby a friend and mentor, went to police about a year after the encounter, but Montgomery County prosecutors declined to file criminal charges.
Cosby, best-known as a warm, funny TV dad, has sparked debate with blunt remarks on personal responsibility aimed at the black community. In 1997, the year his son Ennis was murdered, the long-married Cosby acknowledged a brief affair with the mother of Autumn Jackson, a young woman convicted of extorting him.

I've never liked this guy. Hated the show and every time I've seen him in an interview he comes across as a complete asswipe...really condescending and rude. If you've seen the interview he did with Ruby Wax, you'll know what I mean. As far as this, he settled because he was probably up to no good. There's no other reason to settle, since prosecutors declined to press charges. I wonder why his wife stays with him after all his philandering? Mr. Family man my ass.

I got to give the young woman credit for standing up to Cosby. Cosby is a disgusting bottom feeder hypocrite and a rapist. Cosby talks about morality he should look into his own cracked mirror.

the only time i ever laughed at anything to do with bill crosby was when Eddie Murphy did a stand up comedy routine where he impersonated Bill lecturing him about his bad language.

WTF, prosecutors did not pursue this? A woman was drugged and sexually assaulted, and now he settles this?
Anyone out there still think celebutards face the music like regular people?

I guess the worst part is Pee Wee Herman, at the HIEGHT of his popularity, totally got slammed with "indecent exposure" a*k*a - having a little too much fun in a PORNO THEATER?!?
But no one wanted to press charges on a man who portrayed a perfect dad and was accusted of assualting a women? Because a cop's allegations are far more credible then a well education woman's?
At least Pee Wee wasnt hurting anyone

I dont care what he does, he sounds like an awful human being from this, but I enjoy the cosby show. Its always a let down to read shit like this though about people who you thought were genuinely good.

Cosby is a very powerful and respected person. I suspect Cosby's celebrity allowed him to get off.

I always liked him too, and this is yet one more incident that proves that appearances mean nothing, and people are generally capable of much worse than you think. It's kind of discouraging.

Reading the article, it mentions a dozen other women??? Unbelievable!
What is even sadder is the mindset of the victimized female, that she is willing to settle and let the case be and let this sick man get off scot free celebutard style.

Yeah, when Eddie said he called Richard Pryor and then Richard says something about kicking his jello-pudding eating ass. That was funny....
Was it also Eddie who did the "jello-pudding pussy pops" joke??
