Lindsay Lohan Tells Oprah She's Not a Party Girl

On The Oprah Winfrey Show Tuesday, Lindsay Lohan talks about being called a party girl – and says, "I hate that!"

Asked by Winfrey if she deserves her reputation, Lohan replies, "No. I mean, I've been acting my whole life. And this is what I love to do. And I'm very lucky and blessed to be able to do that."

Not that she doesn't like to have a good time. "I'm 20 years old," she says. "Is it a crime to go … dancing with your friends? I have a life and I have my family and I have work and I have those three things."

On the show to promote her new movie, Bobby, about Robert F. Kennedy, Lohan gets kudos for her off-screen behavior from her director, Emilio Estevez – who says she's "extraordinary" in her role as a young woman who marries a classmate so that he can avoid being drafted to Vietnam.

"The media likes to focus on (the negative) because it sells," Estevez says of reports about Lohan. "And the fact of the matter is I'd rather have them focus on how extraordinary she is in this film and how dedicated and how passionate she is in this role. You see a young actress mature on film and you see her do, I think, the best work of her life."

Lohan recently told InStyle she hopes to have a husband, a home and an Oscar under her belt by age 30, but admits to Winfrey, "That is a lot of pressure." Still, she adds: "I'd like to. I'm setting extreme standards for myself."

La Lohan has the talent and I agree, she's just a young woman doing what young women do. On the other hand, she needs to lay off the drugs a bit or she'll end up looking like a sphincter before she's 30.

I think Lindsay's partying goes way beyond what ordinary 20-year-olds do. Simply because she has the means to do so.

Yep, I agree with all of this too. I do think that she's talented - who among us at a young age with oodles of money would not have found ourselves out maybe a little more often?

I wouldn't have. She is out all the freakin time.

I don't think she's the type of partier that is due to her young age. I think she'll be doing this shit for a long time. She's an addict.

I love how she says "is it a crime to go dancing with your friends??" Ah yeah Linds. That's what Oprah meant by partying. Yeah. Not at all the drugs/drinking. Or exposing yourself regularly.

I agree that she has talent, tho.

i agree. i went through quite a druggie phase and that was nothing compared to some of my friends who were really into the whole drug and clubbing scene for years until they finally calmed down, usually in their mid-20s, sometimes later. no overdoses or early deaths. i think people like to exaggerate lohan's partying cause it makes for good press.

I went out with friends. We danced and drank beer and met the occassional boy. What we didn't do? Heroin, Meth, Coke, and we didn't ho it up.

I thought Lindsay looked awful on Oprah. And she barely said anything. She just sat there and let Oprah and Emilio shower her with compliments, acting all "aw shucks"... It was painful to watch. I keep hoping that one day she'll do an interview that makes me like her, but they're all so awful. And she looked bloated and puffy. She was probably up all night.

Yeah she looked really tired to me as well.
