Christopher Reeve's Kids Take Up Cause

LOS ANGELES - Christopher Reeve's children are carrying on their dad's crusade: finding a cure for paralysis.
Alexandra and Matthew Reeve both serve on the board of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, which Reeve established to fund research for therapies and a cure, People magazine reports in its Nov. 13 issue.
"Our dad's accident really did connect us to this community: 4 million people in the U.S. who are suffering from paralysis," Alexandra Reeve, 22, tells the magazine. "We understand how important it is not only to find a cure but also to improve quality of life."
She and brother Matthew will join their half brother, Will Reeve, 14, at the foundation's annual gala on Nov. 6 in New York.
Christopher Reeve was paralyzed in 1995 in a horse-riding accident. He died in 2004 at age 52. His wife, Dana Reeve, died of lung cancer earlier this year.
Asked about her half brother, Alexandra responded, "Will's doing well. He loves school. He is playing hockey and football and keeping busy with friends."

Now this is man I admired and still admire. Infact, I have tremendous respect for his whole family, epecially his wife and kids.

To think that his Wife learned she had lung cancer just a few months after Christopher died..that must have been so painful. And even after her announcement that she had lung cancer, she lived bravely and kept her head held high and NEVER once whined about anything. You know she anounced her lung cancer and died the same year Maniston got the "man of the year " award from GQ. It makes me mad to think that some self-centered witch thought she was so deserving of that award for going through a divorce, that she went right along with it and posed for those half - naked photos showing her tits to show she was SO BRAVE and SO CLASSY. And then went along with giving her 100th interview to milk every bit of sympathy she could get. Disgusting.

It occured to me after Dana Reeves died...just how courageous she truly was and that she lived her life till the last breath witout going out and searching for pity. Now, that was a strong and classy woman. The fact Maniston thought she deserved the award and thus went along with half- naked photoshoot and puke inducing interview says everything about her. Sick..that woman like her get labled strong and classy...while the ones who were truly just that...strong and classy...often get forgotten. Maniston is one facet of what is wrong with society today. And the fact that women like the pity pary brigade and Oprah go along with these kinds of antics and encourage it, is even more pathetic. I respect what Oprah has achieved and to be where she is today considering how she was raised...it's something to be respected..but she has come a long way from what the old Oprah used to be about..content and character..not glitz and glamour. All that glitters ain't gold, O.

Now Chris and Dana's kids are carrying on their parents tradition...now that's brave and classy!

Will isn't their 'stepbrother', he's their half brother. I wonder why the press wrote it that way..

Anway, I'm glad to know Will's doing well and that Christopher Reeve's older children have stepped in to help the cause and also help raise their younger brother. From what I've read, they really liked Dana and admired her too. After all she did for their father and stood by his side till the end, I'm sure they felt the need to help Will.

I'm beginning to think that *cough* some people *cough* need to check themselves into a mental health facility stat. Seriously.

But not the Reeve kids. They're cool. I just feel so bad for them, being without both parents, and at such a young age.

To this day, I lament the fact that I can't be a research scientist or neurosurgeon. Dammit, why did I have to choose Art over Science?!
