Default Madonna to defend her controversial adoption on Oprah

Madonna to Defend Herself on Winfrey Talk Show

By WENN| Monday, October 23, 2006

HOLLYWOOD - Madonna is to appear on Oprah Winfrey's talk show to defend her controversial adoption of 13-month-old Malawian David Banda this Wednesday.
The pop queen, 48, will discuss her decision to adopt the child, and contest the latest reports from Banda's biological father, Yohane, who claims he had no idea he was sending his son "away for good" when he signed the adoption papers.

Yohane, 32, reportedly believed Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie would only be raising and educating his son before bringing him back to Malawi.

A spokesman for The Oprah Winfrey Show says, "You've read the headlines, heard the rumors and seen the photos. Now, for the first time, Madonna speaks out with her side of the story on the adoption controversy."

Great. We'll have to listen to her fake accent for one whole hour?

God, I forgot about her irritating "accent." Does she still really have it?

And I wonder what she can possibly say, in her bitchy, condescending demeanor, that could change the public's perception of her and this whole botched thing? I wonder if she'll cry? Nah, she probably hasn't done that since 1987 when Sean Penn left her.

*ETA: My bad, it was 1989 when they divorced. She's still a frigid bitch. Carry on.

Default Madonna to give her side of adoption story to bloody Oprah

Quote:
Madonna will appear on Oprah Winfrey's TV chat show this week to defend her controversial adoption of David Banda.

The singer will answer claims by the 13-month-old boy's father, who now says he never intended to give up his son "for good".

Peasant farmer Yohane Banda said he only ever meant for the pop superstar to raise and educate his child before bringing him back to Malawi.

Madonna will talk about her decision to adopt David and whether she intends to keep him in touch with his African heritage.

A statement from the show said: "You've read the headlines, heard the rumours and seen the photos. Now, for the first time, Madonna speaks out with her side of the story on the adoption controversy."

It is not known if the 48-year-old intends to fly David to the US with her. He is believed to have been issued with a US visa shortly before he left Malawi for a new life in London with the star and her film director husband Guy Ritchie.

Controversy over the adoption is also raging in the US.

One poster on the Oprah website writes: "Why are these celebrities allowed to adopt children in record time while us 'regular' folks go through years of hell?"

Earlier this week, Mr Banda said he agreed to let Madonna take the little boy only after a government official assured him the singer would be a temporary carer.

A coalition of human rights groups will ask a Malawi judge to review the case this week.

Can these two egos actuallly fit on the same sound stage? And how many minutes into the program before Oprah starts talking about how she gave a baby up for adoption and turns the whole thing into being about oprah? I give it 7.2 minutes.

I'd be curious when the father expected this return to happen. When David is 18 and legally able to choose for himself? Maybe in their culture children are expected to be under their parent's control forever?

I don't have to watch the show because I know exactly everything Madonna is going to say. She's a perfect person and a perfect mother and everything she does is perfect. She will make sure she has plenty of pictures and Oprah will make sure the world thinks she's special. To me, this is just another way she can get publicity and also help her image. (Although the child will have a better life and more opportunities, he will never have much of a mother.)

I will always be in favor of adoption versus spending your life in an orphanage, but I have to agree with the person in the article who questioned why celebs were put on the fast track to adoption when regular people wait years and are scrutinized before they are allowed to adopt or even foster kids. They may have more money, but that doesn't guarantee more love.

celebrities deserve special favors in all aspects of life, adoption, criminal sentencing, etc. etc. because they are precious human beings that bring so much joy and hope to the world.

You just are so right, celeb, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for pointing this out. I mean, how can we mere mortals understand the inconvenience it would have caused Vadge to comply with the letter of the law. The woman has a cross to climb up on and the laws of some third world country with an annual GDP lower than her shrinks weekly income should not stand in the way of her bringing her fabulous self to the masses. We are so selfish and should be grateful that she, at least, is not.

We can watch Madge confront this touchy issue on the very same couch upon which Tom Cruise scuttled his career. Just imagine! I hope she doesn't decide to do her own stunts, like Tom did.

I think old Madge and Heather Mills should be dropped on some remote island somewhere. Both selfish, self centered bitches
