Default Chris Rock's mom claims discrimination

I tried to post the whole story, but was having some problmes...the link is http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?ne...GT1=7703&mpc=2

Her claim is that she and her daughter were the only black customers in the restaurant(Cracker Barrel) and they were seated for half an hour and never waited on...Al Sharpton is involved now and is "financing" the lawsuit.
I would never suggest that racism and discrimination does not exist today, but I do have to wonder if this is because they didn't get the service she thought she should in the timely manner that she should...

Then the Cracker Barrell in South Carolina doesn't like white people because we had to wait 20 minutes for a server.

I have very rarely gotten fast service at any Cracker Barrel that I have ever eaten at...but the pecan pancakes are so worth the wait

^Exactly!! That's what I was thinking too, LynnieD.

Oh look, Al Sharpton to the rescue. That man gets on my nerves.

Yes, Al Sharpton will fix it. He can fix anything. He's got a great reputation as a problem-fixer.

The Cracker Barrel has a long history of discrimination against different groups. They OPENLY discriminated against gays before..They had an OFFICIAL policy to fire gays they instituted in 1992(look it up on the net.) My SIL used to work there and she confirmed that it was true. This could very well turn out to be a valid complaint. I actually liked the restaurant before they went anti gay.

So Summerville says she was stunned when she learned that Cracker Barrel had issued a memo stating that people who did not demonstrate "normal heterosexual values" could not work for the company. Though she says her immediate manager did not want to fire her, a district manager did. The reason for termination on her separation papers read, "Employee is gay."
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m..._4/ai_97175008

They 'seem' to have reformed..but it stands that they do have a history of bias and discrimination.

excerpt from the very article linked in the first post:

Cracker Barrel has in the past faced numerous lawsuits and a federal inquiry over complaints of refusing to serve black customers, discriminating against minority workers and firing gay employees. The company has taken steps to rebuild its folksy image and reach out to minorities

I remember all that anti-gay litigation going on. It stuck with me at the time, because the Cracker Barrell I went to occasionally appeared to be mainly staffed by big sturdy lesbians.

I've never been to Cracker Barrell when I didn't wait at least a half hour to be waited on. I swear they're slow as fucking molasses.

I'm white and I've been seated in an "all white" restaurant before where I didn't get service for 30+ minutes. Sometimes, servers are just shitty. I'm not saying this was the reason behind this, but sometimes, it's not always racism, it's just shitty service or stupid people.

What do people have to be to be accepted without question? Differences are what makes the world. If we were all black and slim and rich and our partners never strayed and no one got any cancers or other ailments, would that be better? oh crap. While people still draw breath on this planet, they will argue against someone who isnt just like them. Just because.
