Brangelina crew sees inequality in India
[ 12 Oct, 2006 1234hrs ISTPTI ]
PUNE: In the upmarket Sindh Colony here, which is the location for shooting of Hollywood film A Mighty Heart , the distinction between Indians engaged for different work and those from abroad is clear.
Three bungalows have been hired in Sindh Colony by the film's unit for the shooting of the picture being directed by Michael Winterbottom and starring Angelina Jolie in the role of Marian, wife of slain American journalist Daniel Pearl, and Dan Futterman as Daniel.
'Nayansukh Bungalow no 223' is where the film is being shot since Monday. The other bungalows are being used for make-up and for serving dinner to those engaged in the film-making.
A huge pandal has been put on the first floor terrace of one bungalow where the foreign crew members are served food.
"Though no one has said in as many words, the food at the pandal is only to be served for the foreign crew members. The Indians engaged for different purposes are to have their food at the ground floor," a contractual employee said.
"I don't know the reason for this. May be, this could be because we have lots of spice in our food and the foreigners avoid too much of salt and spice," he said.
Meanwhile, the uniformed waiters from Foodkraft Caterers, the pandal and the accompanying activity at the location site give it a look of a marriage place.
No one has the time to answer a query and unknown faces like the Iranian and Indian students, who had come to watch the shooting of the film, are brusquely pushed away by the security personnel.
At the third bungalow (for make up of artistes) at the end of a road on the opposite side of the one being used to serve food to the film unit members, things give a different picture.
There is a white van with 'Capital City Police' written on it and two yellow taxis standing inside the parking lot. A foreign woman pedals along from the one of the two other bungalows and greets two persons who are dressed up in "salwar kameez."
The shooting has been fixed between 1900 hours and would continue in the wee hours of tomorrow, another contractual employee said.

I am from the American CIA and I have a radio in my head. I am going to kill you.
See they're equal opportunity aholes. They have their "bodyguards" run over everybody! No discrimination there.![]()
^Jolie's entourage is careening around like a bowling ball amongst ten pins. She should have a "move it or lose it" bumerp sticker!
Whatever you do, just don't make 'em mad!
They have to cut down on food costs because Radar is watching.
Now they'll have to make good on their most recent donation.
I’ve read that soldiers have been called in because of the auto fiasco.

Inequality in India? As in some people stay in a five star resort with lots of mean security guys to protect them while others sleep in shanty towns?
OMG, inequality in the land of the casts, that's some big news....
