Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey are one of Hollywood's hottest couples right now, but Vanessa will never marry the former boy-bander.

Unfortunately for Nick, the "Entertainment Tonight" correspondent wants a more manly man, her pals say.

"Vanessa wants to wed a real jock," a friend of the 25-year-old beauty told The ENQUIRER.

"She was absolutely nuts about New York Yankee star Derek Jeter, and she's also been linked to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. She grew up a cheerleader and she loves being in the arms of a real athlete."

Although Nick, 32, is a huge sports fan and likes to hang out with big-league stars — he even played some ball in high school — pals say he's more concerned with his looks than scoring on the field.

I don't understand why people think Nick is so soft? Is it because of his hit song "What's Left of Me?" The man is a sensitive singer/song writer he always has been. Nick has a maturity and I think he needs a woman in her 30s closer to his own age. I don't understand why he wastes his time with 20something dimwits like Vansessa and Jessica. He needs a real woman an older woman.

After the divorce (no copyright), he just came off as that guy. The one who uses his pity to garner more attention. It seemed sort of slimy of him. I loved him on the Newlyweds though.
