Pitt and Jolie give more money away
More Brangelina news. The superstar couple have donated $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation. The donation was made through the couple's newly-formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation today, on what would have been the journalist's 43rd birthday. "On this day our thoughts go out to Danny's family," the couple said in a statement. "The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny's work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music." Pitt and Jolie created their namesake foundation in September in order to help families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty by donating $1 million each to the Global Action for Children fund and Doctors Without Borders. Jolie is pictured here as Pearl's wife Marianne in her new movie A Mighty Heart.

I know that this board is kind of split amongst those who revere these two, those who abhor these two and find them incredibly offensive and those who think they're two harmless celebs trying to do something more worthy than be run-of-the mill celebrities (no matter how silly or misguided at times). I fall into the last category, so when I hear about them doing this I think "Great. At least they're attempting to be worthy human beings." So good for them. I wish more people with money did something better with it than getting the latest designer bag.

If they actually donate the cash ... great. Personally, I'd have more respect for them if they donated it quietly [or anonymously] and we didn't have to hear about their good deeds all the time. It kind of loses something when they expect to be patted on the back.
Oh by the way ... I gave a little kid a quarter in the store this a.m. to help him pay for his chips. I AM JUST SO WONDERFUL!

I see both sides of this. They could do it privately but in doing it publically they inspire others to give too. That is why non-profits are always looking for famous people to act as their spokes people. It brings attention to the cause. I applaud you for giving the little boy cash to get chips. Hope he pays it forward someday.
I fall into the buttmunch category. I don't like or dislike jolie-pitt or Jennifer. I just know that I see JP doing a lot more good in the world than I have seen from Jenn.

Their publicists deserve some kind of award. What a brilliant idea she/he had to announce donations to organizations
and never pay up. It doesn't cost them a penny while getting all that publicity.
This may catch on with other celebs.

The only people who think they are treated like Saints are the ones who denigrating every charitiable thing they do and flippantly pass off it as a publicity stunt. So for these people...anyone who dares to praise them for their dedication...they immediately assume saint hood is being bestowed on these two.

I think lots of celebrities give money to charity they just choose to do it quietly...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am really glad that they give to charity no matter what... I think everyone should especially people with all that money.
However I do think making the whole know everytime you do something nice takes the true intention of good will out of it.
