The actor has often been ribbed for allegedly wearing lifts in his shoes to boost his 5ft 7ins frame, but perhaps this was one night when he should have worn them.
Holmes is 5ft 8ins and towered over him in her high heels. Okay, so he's a bit behind her - but he can't be that far behind... he's holding her hand.
The pair were reportedly discussing their wedding plans - let's hope Cruise remembers his shoe lifts when they walk down the aisle.
As for our picture, perhaps that's not quite what he meant when he said he'd help her make it big in Hollywood.

This is why Katie walks behind Tom most of the time. It's all about perspective. Things further away appear smaller. So by walking behind him, it makes them appear to be more even in height.
This was a huge mistake, letting her walk in front. She looks like a giant compared to him.
