Default Oprah Says Her Lawyers Overreacted

    Monday, September 25th, 2006 at 4:40pm

    AP

Oprah Winfrey says her lawyers shouldn't have gone after the man who is trying to promote her as a candidate for president.

Not because she's running, mind you.

"I feel flattered by it," the 52-year-old talk-show host told The Associated Press on Monday. "My lawyers overreacted, I think, by sending him a cease-and-desist order because it really is a flattering thing."

It should have been handled in a phone call, said Winfrey, who said she's thinking of calling Patrick Crowe of Kansas City, Mo., herself.

Crowe has been campaigning to urge Winfrey to run for president for years, setting up a Web site that has its own campaign song. A month ago, Winfrey's lawyers sent Crowe a letter demanding that he remove her picture from his Web site.

Winfrey's smiling face remained on http://www.oprah08.net Monday.

Winfrey was in New York to promote Oprah and Friends, which launched Monday on XM Satellite Radio.

In February, Winfrey signed a three-year, $55 million deal with XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. to launch her new radio channel, which joins her nationally syndicated television show and her O, The Oprah Magazine.

XM Satellite Radio boasts more than 7 million subscribers.

Oh please, she set them on that guy like a pack of rabid dogs. Typical Oprah backpedalling...she sees her actions aren't going down well with the public so she either pretends it didn't happen or it wasn't her fault. Kind of like with ThetinTom on her couch. At the time she was loving it but when she realized the public thought he was a nutjob, she cut him loose.

I predict a show on this very subject in the not-too-distant future.

That's because there's raging Oprah fans out there that actually want to know what's in her purse. They're INSANE, I tell you!! I love me some Oprah, but DAMN! What the hell is wrong with some of these women? Oh, right, they're all victims or struggling or in some sort of quagmire out of which Oprah can help them with her constant parading of Experts In All Things Touchy-Feely.

^^ Sad, isn't it? Unfortunately, being President would get in the way of her saving the world. I'm sure that's why she's not interested.

She's better off running her show anyway. Catching those child predators has been her best work to date.

    [I'm being serious about that]
