Madonna & Guy to adopt from Africa...
According to reports, Madonna and Guy Ritchie are set to adopt a set of twins from an African orphanage next month. They are flying to Malawi to pick up twins or two regular siblings. They haven't decided yet.
A source said: "Originally Madonna and Guy planned to adopt only one child. But when they were told that might mean breaking up a family unit they immediately said they would take siblings or twins if that was the right thing to do.
"They want the children to be as young as possible but are prepared to take
kids up to the age of four. And they are also willing to consider a child with special needs arising
from being abandoned in an orphanage."
Her spokeswhore has confirmed she will travel to Africa next month for six-weeks, but didn't confirm whether or not she was picking up some kids.

So no kid over the age of 4? Is that because the kid might be immune to indoctrination into Kaballahism? Then again, Madonna herself wasn't immune, so...

Yeah, I didn't like that "As young as possible" statement. It really is sad how many older children are left to wait until they are adults. No child over the age of four? Are you serious? Especially for someone like Madonna and Angelina, who have the resources to hire a team of care takers and tutors for an older child, still want what's easiest for them.
I guess I can't downgrade their efforts though. I mean, that's nice of them for adopting in the first place.

Although she may be jumping on the adoption bandwagon, at least she'll be giving some kids a nice home. Kudos to her for being willing to adopt special needs children.

Though, I guess all African orphans have a special need: to get the hell out of the poverty!

I agree and I feel thats exactly what it is to Madonna,.......Madonna loves Madonna and lots of attention, and if adopting will get her lots of attention, then thats what she will do,..... but anyway,......a child or two will have food on the table and a better life.

Especially Third World babies that mean lots of free publicity for flagging careers.

^^Love your new avatar, Lobelia.
Yeah, and Christina Crawford was lucky to be adopted by Joan Crawford. You can't exactly be snarky about what they're doing because then it seems like you're condoning the horrible conditions for these poor children, but COME THE FUCK ON! Children are not just toys to be bought according to your specifications and PR needs. And there are plenty of children in the US who need to be adopted but adopting a child from Africa is so much more conspicuous and all about how caring you are. Ally McBeal, Sharon Stone, all these actresses have adopted children in this country and no one calls them selfless crusaders trying to save the world. It's as though if you adopt a baby of color when you're white it's like the single most heroic and selfless thing you can do.

I don't think adopting a child of colour when you are white is seen as heroic and selfless.
I think it shows you don't care about skin colour, can see how unimportant it is in the big picture.
Remember she is adopting from Malawi, where I believe 2 million children have been orphoned. I think good on her.
