Robin Williams has checked himself out of rehab in an attempt to win his wife back.
Marsha is said to have told him that unless he sorted out his alcohol problems then she would leave him, leading to his publicist to announce in July that Williams had taken "proactive measures for his own well-being and the well-being of his family".
Following his 60-day stint at Oregon's Hazelden Springbrook clinic, its reported that Williams has moved in with a "sober companion" as part of his next stage in adjusting to life out of the clinic.
According to the Daily Mail, he will be watched over 24 hours a day for the next three months to make sure that he doesn't fall off the wagon again.
A friend of the Mrs Doubtfire actor is reported to have said: "Instead of going home to his wife and two teenage children in Napa Valley, he's moved to Los Angeles, where he's renting an apartment and living with a 'sober companion'."
Williams is currently starring as a radio talkshow host in The Night Listener, a dark story which questions the line between reality and illusion.

whose kid did I read Robin Williams agreed to raise some time ago, someone who died or am I getting confused?
*ETA: just googled and couldn't find anything on my own question, but I did find another interesting fact: His current wife Marsha was hired by his former wife Valerie as their nanny.
Ew. He pulled a Jude Law, apparently.

It was Christopher Reeve's son...
he didn't agree to 'raise'' him as such, but did say he would be there for the child.

Hmmm.....I just don't get drunk from him. Coke fiend yes, but not a drunk. Wonder what he was doing to piss his wife off so bad. Thats the real story.

I guess you can hear na-noo na-noo only so many times before you wanta kill someone. Maybe Robins theory was if you're on a good thing, stick to it.
Nah,.not really. I agree though. He is not a drunk. Drugs yes, alcohol, no. Does he even smoke cigarettes?

Hang on, there's something I don't get. His wife tells him to sign himself into rehab or else, and now he's signing himself OUT and living with a sober companion away from his family in an attempt to win her back? Am I too thick for this or does it really make no sense?

Well, the article said that he completed 60 days and is now in the next stage of rehab ... coping with life on the outside.
I find 'sober companion' to be an interesting choice of words. Why not just say friend? Makes me think he's hooked up with another woman.

Yeah, it does sound a bit like that. Couldn't they have chosen another word for it, like... roomie sponsor or something?
Thanks for the explanation, I kind of got thrown off by the "he signed himself out"- doesn't signing yourself out usually mean that you're going early or against doctor's advice? Ah well, I guess I got that wrong, sounds like 60 days is a full cycle.
