Default Marc Cherry puts a ban on any more Wisteria Lane pregnanices

"Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry has told cast members to knock it off with the getting knocked up, says Eva Longoria.

Longoria made an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," and told Ellen that "Desperate Housewives" creator, Marc Cherry had put a ban on any more cast pregnancies.

Ellen: You’re going to postpone if you want to get married [to San Antonio Spurs star, Tony Parker] and start a family like in a couple of years? You can't do that while you’re working?

Eva: Well, no you can -- it's just difficult because our work schedule is so crazy and you know Marcia Cross is pregnant and so Marc Cherry came on the set and he was “like no more pregnancies this year...they’re really hard to write in.”

Ellen: So you can’t do it yet. How many kids do you want?
Eva: As many as God will give.

Let’s hope Cherry changes his mind before the everyone’s biological clock kicks in and he’s found locked in a basement or buried underneath a pool.

Hasn't it been common in the past for there to be no pregnancy clauses in contracts? IMO it's not that far fetched to see him doing it...

I was gonna say that but I wasn't sure if I'd remembered right or not. It makes sense because obviously if you've signed up to do a movie/tv show and then you get pregnant, it can cause a lot of issues.

But obviously it isn't in the DH contract, so he couldn't really follow through with that threat if someone else was to get pregnant. I think it was more of a joke, although the part about it being hard to write in is true.

Hell, the show will be off the air in a year anyway, so who cares.

Pregnancies can also be filmed around-with varying degrees of success. They did so with SJP w SATC, Courtney Cox in Friends and Debra Messing w W&G.

Actually I think from a business point of view being pregnant on the show can be complicated. Some people may see it as the show being out of line but this is showbiz. And I believe some shows do have it written into contracts that no pregnany clause. Although I think some actresses have fought rule. I think a couple of soap stars have r The show is supposed to be about five sexy women that already have kids. And a pregnant star the writers would have to change the scripts, the storyline. They would have to shoot at different angles. Also some TV and movie executives don't like it either. Maybe the common person is offended but in Hollywood this is show business. And remember having a pregnant character could change the character all together or even the public's perception of the character.
