Superstar couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will marry in three to six weeks in a lavish Catholic ceremony, according to Hollywood insiders.
Nine network entertainment reporter Richard Reid said the pair are due to marry in just over a month in what will be the wedding of the year.
"They're going to have a fabulous blow-out wedding to end all weddings. Katie is going to wear a Versace dress," Reid told the Today program.
Following the birth of their daughter Suri — and having been ditched by Paramount — Cruise is getting ready to "make an honest woman of Katie," according to Reid.
"They're going to throw caution to the wind and finally get married," Reid said.
According to Reid, Cruise's belief in Scientology has been a problem — Holmes' parents are strict Catholics and want their daughter married in their church.
"Katie's parents put their foot down and said it has to be a Catholic wedding or we're not going to walk her down the aisle. So it looks like it's going to be a Catholic ceremony for Tom and Katie and we can expect that in about six weeks."
Holmes, the 27-year-old former teen queen, will become the third Mrs Tom Cruise and goes into the marriage with a substantial prenuptial agreement.
Holmes father, a divorce attorney, was said to be behind her $58-million prenuptial agreement, according to reports in US magazine Life & Style Weekly.
Under the agreement, Holmes reportedly stands to gain at least $5.3m for each year she is married to Cruise, should the pair separate. If the pair remain together for more than 11 years, Holmes will be entitled to half of Tom's fortune under Californian law.
Holmes is said to be happy with the agreement and looking forward to her big day.
While there has been no official word on the nuptials from representatives of either Cruise or Holmes, friends are reportedly discussing details of the ceremony with the media.

A Catholic wedding what happened to the big Sci-fi wedding??? I think this story is crap as there are too many details and I doubt they would be giving away anything if they were getting married

It's taken from National Nine news so I don't believe a word of it. There's no way The Control Freak would agree to a big Catholic wedding instead of a Thetan Mind Meld ceremony on Xenu's mothership.

If this bit IS true If the pair remain together for more than 11 years, Holmes will be entitled to half of Tom's fortune under Californian law then what's the betting Tom will "Do a Nicole" and divorce Katie the day before their 11th anniversary (if they even get that far, which they won't).

Ok in order for my husband and I to marry in the catholic church I had to go through classes for a year and this was in 2004. And having a friend who is engaged to a Baptist in order for them to be married he has to take the same classes as I did. So I doubt that they are getting married in a catholic church.
And if they do end up getting married and he does a crappy thing like file for a divorce just before that 11 yr mark he is truly a Class-A Asshole.

Also, how does her father reconcile being a strict Catholic with being a divorce lawyer? Doesn't the Vatican frown upon divorce?

With all of her Catholics and all of his $cientologists at the wedding it would look like that wedding scene at the end of "The Birdcage". A big Catholic wedding for $cientologist Tom? Sounds fishy to me.

I don't believe it either. The Catholic church just doesn't marry people because he is Tom Cruise. He would have to go to the classes and all but join like the rest of us. AND I think he has to say it's ok if Suri is raised Catholic as well.

Didn't Nicole have to seek an annulment from TC in order to marry Keith Urban in a Catholic ceremony? Wouldn't TC have to do the same thing?
