Obviously since it hasn't happened yet, things can change. However, Clay Aiken is expected to come out of the closet this on Good Morning America this coming week when he's interviewed by Diane Sawyer.
Kinda!
According to a well-placed source, Gayken will admit that he is on the anti-depressant Paxil. Diane Sawyer will not be asking Clay directly if he is gay, but she will give him a hypothetical question such as...if these rumors were said about some guy in the Midwest how should he address it?
In Clay's response, he dances around the question by answering with a hypothetical non-denial denial.
We'll wait and see.
We really hope Clay does it! The truth will set you free, sister!!

Woohoo! Lets hope!

Why does he even need to say anything? What's with all this pushing people out of the closet lately? It's all so irrelevant. If I like an artist - be it a singer, actor, comedian - I like them based on their talent. What they do behind closed doors is their business, not mine! Their 'coming out' isn't going to rock my world so what's the big deal?

I agree but I think it's because he denied it and all the little old ladies were upset when all those stories came out. And quite frankly, it really isn't necessary.

Sure he doesn't need to. But I'd like to see it happen anyway. If nothing else than because these rabid fans of his who are insistant that "Clay is NOT gay! (like being gay is the worst thing imaginable) are so nuts that I'd love to see their world turned upside down. But that's precisely the reason I think he'll wus out. If he does come out, it'll be because someone has pics or other proof that they were threatening to make public. But seriously, if girlfriend came out even I might have enough respect for him to at least attempt to take him seriously. He could potentially have a whole new (more mainstream) set of fans instead of a fringe group of crazies that normal people make fun of.

I understand what you're both saying, but we're not exactly a 'gay friendly' society. Many of these artists believe' coming out' puts their livelihoods, their reputations and sometimes even their safety on the line. In a way, I don't blame them. I would imagine it's tough enough being gay, but having to declare it because the world feels their entitled to know is an even bolder step.
We probably don't think it's a big deal because we wouldn't have a lot to lose. I suspect it would be different if we were to walk in their shoes. Nobody cares if I'm straight or gay because I'm not in the public eye. Why is it so different for these people just because of what they choose to do for a living?

The fact that he makes most of his bank off of people for whom it would make a big difference to them if it did come to light that he was gay is what I find particularly disgusting. People like this are actually the reason he "can't" come out, yet he'll take their money and court them for his fan base. It's like a big ugly co-denpendent cycle. I wish he had big enough balls not to give a shit. He's got the talent that he could probably make it in the mainstream if he broke from the crazies.

I just don't find it neccessary for ANYONE to announce to the world who they're f*******--gay or straight. I don't see the point of it...it's no one's business.

Amen to that.
Like someone said, the sex life of a musician is irrelevant to their talent. Leave them alone. And stop clamoring for all these gay celebs to come out. It's a huge decision and maybe they're just not ready or feel like they have too much to lose. There's still a big stigma about being gay for a ton of people out there.

I don't give a rats ass if someone is gay/straight of whatever.....however...I will admit that I would LOVE to see Clay come clean, it would be so damn hilarious to me for some reason (and I don't know why). Perhaps because of what butt said: the PTA/church choir/soccer mom sect was agast that the very thought of him being gay, when it was so freaking obvious from the get go. I love it!! Won't think any less of him, in fact, I'll have a new respect for him.

Well I hope Clay knew that Diane was going to ask this question and he
agreed to it. If not, she’s got some nerve.

I guess she isn't actually going to ask, but will bring it up somehow....and he doesn't say no (that he's not gay). So, there won't be a big revelation probably, but he won't be jumping on couches telling her how straight he is...

If he IS gay, and he admits it, maybe after some initial hub-bub he could then move on to concentrating on his music. These days, I think at least half the attention he gets is speculation about his sexual orientation. He's talented & adorable, and I'd like to see him appreciated for that.
