Why the big announcement if there is no substance behind those rumors?
Travolta's Attorney Insists Star Is Not Gay
John Travolta's attorney has raced to defend his client against gay slurs after the Grease star was photographed kissing another man before flying him to America on board his private jet.
Publicists insisted the smooch was harmless and Travolta's wife Kelly Preston was on board the plane which ferried the actor and the family's male nanny home from Ontario, Canada.
And now Travolta's lawyer Martin Singer has rushed to explain the kiss in an effort to end reports Travolta's new cross-dressing role as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray have turned the actor gay.
Singer says, "As a manner of customary greeting and saying farewell, Mr. Travolta kisses both women and men whom he considers to be extremely close friends.
"People who are close to Mr. Travolta are aware of his customary, non-romantic gesture."
But body-language expert Lillian Glass suggests the photo of Travolta kissing the nanny is more than just a friendly gesture.
She tells the Globe, "John appears to be really enjoying it. His head is leaning upwards, his lips are puckered, his body is leaning in to the guy... It appears to be quite intimate." http://www.celebrityweek.com/news/sh...rt.asp?id=1192
Why the big announcement if there is no substance behind those rumors?
well if his lawyer says so...

I'm sorry but going public to deny it means its probably true.
If you're really not gay, who cares. If your secret got out of the bag and you have to put it back somehow to save face, then you'd worry.
He's as gay as a parade. The male nanny- interesting.
I noted in the thread w/the pix that having a manny was very interesting indeed....wonder why???
And I think the man doeth protest too much.
Of course everyone is going to believe someone who is on John's payroll.... NOT!

Of course playing the role of a cross-dresser does not turn a person gay. For Pete's sake! It's just unfortunate in Travolta's case that he's already gay and was caught smooching a guy in public.![]()
I wasn't thinking, 'oh hes gay because he played a cross dresser'. Pffft. I just think he's gay, and now I know why him and kelly preston's marriage has lasted so long; its a sham.
why would he need his lawyer to say that for him!?!
Because he thinks everyone will believe the lawyer?
Next we'll hear tom cruise say 'I'm close friends with John and he couldnt be more heterosexual'.![]()
Well, he's a Scientologist, too.....of course he's not gay!!![]()
I'm not quite drunk enough to really care, but is this her violation of her violation of her violation of her violation of probation or her violation of her violation of her violation of her probation????? ~MontanaMama on LL's latest arrest.
Well, you all said what I wanted to say: a film role will not 'turn' you gay (give me a break!) any more than tongueing the nanny means nothing. OK, maybe tongues weren't involved but that sure was an intimate kiss for a staff member, no matter how close they are. But in the end, if his lawyer says it isn't true, then I for one believe him. I mean, lawyers don't lie do they?
