Jessica Simpson calls magazine editors in an attempt to save her image

A penitent Simpson expressed gratitude for the boost the weeklies have given her career, determination to take on a more direct role in dealing with them, and sadness at having become an object of scorn for the very magazines that once treated her like a goddess. "She's wondering why they all turned on her," says the source. Adds another person close to the situation, "It was kind of like, 'Hi, I'm actually a human being.'"

While higher-ups at Us, Star, and In Touch were happy enough to take Simpson's call, People editor Larry Hackett has yet to speak with her. Although the official explanation had Hackett—in the midst of closing People's annual Best and Worst Dressed issue—too busy for a chat, sources say he remains furious that his mag was used as the bearer of Shuter's fairy tale romance.

How exactly have the tabs been treating her poorly? I haven't seen it. They don't post photos of her looking 20 lbs heavier and make comments. All in all, they're pretty nice to her.

^^ See, now I don't. For some reason she's never struck me that way. People here say it all of the time but there are really no mainstream reports of it. Are there? Maybe I've had my head in the sand but it seems like some people don't like her and therefore make all kinds of wild speculations that have never panned out but are believed to be true.

And, no, I don't love her at all but I do feel sort of big sisterly toward her.

IMO she's a HUGE whore. But it's about attention and adoration (from all...the poor sap she's fucking is just a means to that end) not really sex. She is only capable of love in its most rudimentary form, kind of like a toddler. Jess' world in a nutshell: Me first, then mommy (or in her case, DADDY), then anyone else as long as they're all about ME.

The magazines all turned on her because they're probably sick of her creepy dad planting lies about other celebs (mostly Nick) or exaggerations about Jessica's love life in their magazines and then getting sued or publicly embarrassed when the garbage that Joe sells them is all revealed to be lies.

I'm still confused by this. What doesn't she leave to the imagination? She's often photographed alone or with her dad or Ken Paves. You don't see her in some back alley ala (banned). You don't see her flashing body parts like LL and (banned). At worst you see the product of bad plastic surgery (which she owns up to). Again, I'm no fan but she doesn't exactly get caught with her pants down like the rest of the trollops in Hollywood.

I have to agree she's a whore of the attention seeking variety. Maybe she really doesn't understand why magazines and the public have turned on her, but instead of worrying about firing Rob Whatshisname, she ought to relegate Papa Perv to the background and drop the dumb blonde routine. It's tired, even if people once found it likable. And regardless of what went on with her and Nick, I think the general public feels sorry for him having to deal with an immature, spoiled, bratty wife and blames her for (whether imagined or not) treating him shitty.

She needs to stay out of the limelight and maybe the public will eventually forget why they dislike her.

I meant simply that its obvious by her choices what's important to her. Whore of the attention variety, as someone else just put it. And I sort of beg to differ on that getting caught with the pants down thing, although thank the gods we haven't seen her puss (yet).
