Whitney Houston Files For Separation From Bobby Brown

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (September 13, 2006) -- Access Hollywood has learned from a source close to Whitney Houston that the star has filed for a legal separation from her long-time husband Bobby Brown. The source says legal documents were filed Friday and that Bobby Brown was served with those documents yesterday. Houston plans to officially file for divorce in October.
Bobby Brown & Whitney Houston got married on July 18th 1992. They have been married for 14 years.
They have one daughter, Bobbi Kristina, born March 4, 1993.
In June 2005, Brown launched his own reality series, "Being Bobby Brown," on the Bravo television network.

I disagree with people blaming Bobby for all Whitney's problems. Whitney is a grown woman and she made her OWN decisions. Bobby didn't force the crack pipe into Whitney's mouth. Bobby never told Whitney to do drugs. Whitney was always a bad ass. Some people don't realize that. She always had issues prior to meeting Bobby Brown. I don't like it when the media blame Bobby for all their problems. Whtiney Houston is no saint.

Whitney has talent. She has a beautiful voice and she was a great actress--a total natural. Then she met Bobby Brown and for whatever reason, she just went to hell. I'm hopeful that without him around she will get her life in order. Living with a person who does drugs, alcohol, has a criminal record and all them damn children has to be draining. You just can't be happy. I'm glad she's getting rid of him--he was nothing but dead weight around her neck--a fricken ball and chain. Maybe now she can actually achieve sobriety too...and I don't care what anyone says--the man you choose to marry DOES influence the life you'll have. What's that saying, 99% of your happiness or unhappines is greatly determined by WHO you marry? I believe that totally. He was no good for her...she needs to put focus back in herself and her career.

Never say never. I want her to get better. And I think divorce will help her. True Bobby didn't force Whitney to do drugs, but in no way are they good for each other. I think this is best, for both of them and their daughter.

She's gained some weight, she looks good. But I don't like that blondish hair. I can't believe how much she's starting to look like her aunt Dionne Warwick too. It's uncanny! How old is Whitney now, 42 or 43? She's getting older...you can tell in pictures. But then again, the damn life she's had with Bobby hasn't helped either I'm sure.

And Bobby has talent as well. Bobby had success with New Edition and after New Edition. Whitney Houston is no goddess she's a grown woman that decided to do drugs. Maybe in a way they both hurt each other. I definitely don't think it was one way traffic. As for Bobby's children I hope he's taking care of them that's all I can say about that. But Whitney had a miscarriage for Eddie Murphy back in 1992. She wasn't no princess back in the 80s or early 90s as people are lead to believe. She lived a lesbian lifestyle with former female assistant and she did drugs before. In the 80s and early 90s Whitney was all image and was white America's favourite Negro. Since she married bobby Brown she fell from white America's good graces. As Whitney herself said in an Essence Magazine interrview she says the reason the white American media turned on her was because she didn't marry a white guy. And I believe that's part of the anger and reason they are so pissed at her. Whitney was supposed to be the special black that "brokethrough" and entered the good graces of white America when she got huge in the late 80s and early 90s. I don't like it how the media are trying to paint Bobby Brown and stereotype black American men.
As if white male entertainers aren't trashy. I don't see Tommy Lee or Kid Rock get the same type of negativity that Bobby Brown received from the mainstream American media.

Ahhhh, the race card. It's a total non-issue what race Bobby is. He was not good for her. And you're dead wrong--Robert Downey Jr. and Mel Gibson got a lot of BAD publicity with their drug/alcohol problems. Downey even went to PRISON for it. They didn't show him any favoritism. So, a lot of white celebrities who've had substance abuse problems have been exposed. But they have shaped up. Bobby has been on the same path for years and years. No one's 'picking' on him. He has no one to blame for his 'negative publicity' except himself. Let's take responsibility here...race is irrelevant.
