Brooke gets apology from Tom
Brooke Shields told Jay Leno that she received an apology from Tom Cruise this week for his public criticism of her use of antidepressants to treat postpartum depression after the birth of her first daughter. Shields told Leno that Cruise apologized in person on Thursday. "He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology," she said. "And he apologized for bringing me into the whole thing and for everything that happened. And through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn't feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it." Cruise's spokesperson also released a statement about the apology, saying, "It is true that his friendship with Ms. Shields has been mended. He has not changed his position about antidepressants, which, as evidenced by the black label warnings issued by the FDA on these types of drugs, are unhealthy."

Did anyone else see this? I sat there in disbelief thinking, "No Brooke, no! You've just sold your soul to Xenu!!" I could just see Thetan Tom going over to her house and apologizing. ANyone else want to bet that he broke out at least one, "Brooke, you complete me" comment? You know his apology was just like every one he's ever given in any of his movies. Dammit. She should have told him to stick it.

True, but she just proved to be the better person in the situation, and not the crazy that Tom is. I applaud her restraint.

She actually looked like she believed him and wanted to rouse public sympathy for him though...that's the part that makes me gag.

I'd be suspicious of his genuineness, if not for the fact that he's an extraordinarily shitty actor.

I am sure it was heartfelt - like he was saying - "I am so sorry - I never intended for it to get like this. I never intended for the public to turn on me. I thought they would all blindly follow me to the space ship. Instead they turned on me and felt bad for you. I never intended it to work out like that!"

Get out of here - no way was it Oscar material. He's not a good actor - he just thinks he is.

And Katie's hormones are going kerplooey as she sinks ever deeper into post-partum depression. The chicken has come home to roost, people.

What irritates me is that it was a very public comment and yet a private apology. If he really wants to make it right - he would have to make a public statement and really validate postpartum depression and the need for medical treatment.
I'm glad a private apology makes Brooke feel all warm and fuzzy, but she should hold him accountable for making such rediculous statements on national tv.

Crawling on his stomach apologizing to Brooke, sending out baby snaps, begging the jewish community for forgiveness for Mels drunken ravings, sticking up for John Travolta or was that sticking up John trav...oh well, nevermind. Amazing what getting the sack does to people.
I made up the last ones.............or did I?
