    Default Steve Irwin dead...

Wow. Just read this on SF:

THE Crocodile Man, Steve Irwin, is dead.

He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said. It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest.

He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that's when it occured.

Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas.

Gosh, I'm stunned. I don't know why, but I am.

I can't believe this really happened to him. He seemed like the kind of guy that no matter what dangerous animal he approaches, he never gets hurt (if this makes sense...). I still feel like he's gonna be on TV doing crazy croc stunts.

If you think it's crazy, you ain't seen a thing. Just wait until we're goin down in flames.

I find it ironically sad that he worked with tigers, dangerous snakes, spiders, sharks and crocodiles just to name a few and it was a sting ray that killed him.

I'm really saddened by this. I really liked Steve Irwin. He had an enthusiasm, a "zest", a "lust for life" that was so cheerful & appealing...He was a unique & special person. I enjoyed his show, and learned a lot about animals from him. He was a great animal & conservation activist...And his spunky enthusiastic personality really helped to draw people into & learn about those causes. He will be missed.

I agree Moomies. The guy seemed invincible...I can't believe such a tough, fearless man was killed by such a freak accident. I hear what you're saying, it's hard to believe he WON'T be around anymore, doing his brave, risky manueverings with crocs & other dangerous stunts.

That's what thought came to mind too, Sleuth. He did so many death-defying things (i'd watch his show & gasp in fright at how he would deal with huge crocodiles & anacondas, like it was no big deal) and here he is killed by a freaking stingray! Unbelieveable... So sad.
