Default Spice Girl Geri Haliwell accuses nanny of abuse

GERI Halliwell found baby daughter Bluebell bruised and bawling after leaving her with a temporary nanny.

The tiny tot was shrieking when furious Geri, 34, turned on the nanny and screamed: "What's happened? What have you done to my baby?"

But the nanny — believed to have been hired from an agency while Geri looks for a permanent carer — said nothing and the former Spice Girl reported the bruises on Bluebell's arm to cops.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman told the News of the World: "We have received an allegation of abuse against a three-month-old baby.

"Officers from our Child Abuse Investigations Unit are investigating and inquiries are continuing. There have been no arrests.

    Tantrum

"We emphasize that the allegations of abuse are of a physical and not sexual nature."

The incident happened while Geri was staying with two pals at a luxury cottage on the grounds of Liphook Golf Club, Hants.

They went for a walk, leaving three-month-old Bluebell with the nanny, but when they returned, she was obviously in distress.

An insider said: "Geri was absolutely hysterical. Bluebell is such a happy little child and it broke Geri up to see her in such a state.

"She could tell that this was not just a baby's tantrum, so she checked Bluebell and found bruising on her arm."

The insider added: "It was the silence from the nanny that so alarmed Geri. If the nanny had explained there had been an accident, she maybe could have understood.

"Geri has barely let Bluebell out of her sight since the birth. Then she leaves her with someone and all hell breaks loose."

Geri's personal assistant issued a statement saying: "Bluebell is now happy and well and there are no further concerns for her welfare."

Geri has been staying with friends near Regents Park in London since the incident on August 18.

She no longer has anything to do with Bluebell's father, film-maker Sacha Gervasi, 40, who is based in Los Angeles, but he has access rights to visit his baby daughter. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/stor...ws/news2.shtml

If Geri really is 34, she has aged horribly. She looks at least 10 years older than that.

She's not 34. I remember when the spice girls were hot and I recall she was at least a couple years older than I am (or was at the time). I'm 35 now.

These people should really be careful who they leave their kids with. And maybe I'm a big mean ass for this one too (and I've probably said it before) but what a STUPID name...Bluebell. At least call the poor thing "Belle".

I feel badly for her and her daughter. I had a babysitter as well as a stepfather who were abusive to my sister and I, it's hard to get over esp. when you feel like you can't do anything about it.

I think naming a child "Bluebell" qualifies for its own kind of abuse.

She has money, why in God's own earth would she feel that she had to leave a three month old baby with a nanny...
You don't even let them out of your arms at this age, unless you have to get money for food and a roof...for the baby.

I'm not sure I agree. I mean, people, even mothers, deserve to have some sort of life. And if the nanny was vetted by a reputable agency then she probably thought the situation was safe. I don't buy that a mother is bound to a baby by an invisible umbilical cord.
