Default Pink doesn't have the discipline to be anorexic

Quote:
Pop punk Pink would love to lose weight but doesn't have the "discipline" to develop an eating disorder. The singer loves junk food too much and is glad she sends a positive message to her young fans that they don't have to starve themselves to be beautiful and successful.

She says, "I'd love to be thinner but I don't have the discipline to be anorexic or bulimic. Thinness has got out of control in Hollywood; anorexia is rampant. I've felt the pressure but I'm happy with the way I look. I want to send a message to girls, through my music, that being six feet tall and weighing the same as a bag of popcorn isn't healthy."

The girl is down to earth, if nothing else.

If I wanted to nitpick her here, I'd point out that eating junk food isn't really healthy either, but I like her & the message she's trying to send, so I won't nitpick.

I think Pink looks great- why anybody in their right minds would want to look like Nicole Ritchie is something I just really don't understand. I think Pink has the tendency to put on weight, but I think that she actually does have enough discipline to pull herself together for the sake of promotion, video shoots and touring. I'd be happy to have her body because it looks natural, healthy and fit- not starved.

She doesn't have enough discipline to have an eating disorder but she sure does have enough to work out so much that she developed a man stomach! gross!

I dont like her body, but she's a good role model. She looks 57597345903760760567506760756040675605760704367436 746743674367436743 times better than Nicole Stickchie.

nicole ritchie looks dreadful
there is a nice middle ground, where a girl is slim and healthy but not horribly skinny
i am about um, 20 pounds higher than that middle ground, but on a diet and doing well hehe.

Pink shut up! The way she seems to be stating it is that if she DID have the discipline to develop anorexia..then she would and would be all for it! And what is this 'would love to lose weight' shit? She is fine as she is and by saying that she is saying that she IS NOT fine herself with the way she is now. Nice message to send to the preteens Pink. I like her and will consider this to be just one-of-those-things fuck up on her part, given that she does not have a track record of saying stupid things. I mean c'mon her weight is normal and she is in great shape so what is there for her to not like about her body? Why the need or desire to be thinner on her part? Does every single woman..every single one..hate their body? This is sad people.

I thought anorexia was a mental illness and not a matter of self discipline?

I think it is a matter of degrees..but with severe anorexia I would say yes it is a mental illness...if for no other reason than the starvation itself can cause changes in brain chemistry that often leads to neurotic or even psychotic thinking patterns. I will have to check but I think it is classified as a mental disorder.

*well damn I am not sure now.. here is a link to a site though.:
http://www.something-fishy.org/isf/mentalhealth.php

I know in my case(over 20 years ago) I was already depressed(had 'unresolved conflicts with my sexuality"???) and when starved down I became batshit crazy!*

If Pink didn't talk out of her ass on a regular basis, I'd care enough to grumble about how it sounds like she thinks a person with an eating disorder has good self-discipline and not something wrong with them.

I think that the shape of her stomach is more genetics than working out. I've lifted weights for a long time and even powerlifted a few years in my 20's and I never had a blocky square look that Pink has. My waist actually got a bit smaller than it already was.
