I think maybe he took one too many tokes.
Rocker Tom Petty has promised his worried wife he won't get back behind the wheel of his car after making a spectacle of himself by literally crashing Adam Sandler's wedding.
The Running Down A Dream singer was distracted by silver weather balloons Sandler sent up to thwart paparazzi trying to get wedding shots from helicopters - and he rear-ended a guest.
Petty reveals he now only drives when he absolutely has to after promising his wife Dana he'll hang up his keys.
He explains, "The last two times I drove I had accidents. It just came down as a rule that I am not allowed behind the wheel. I like to drive, but after that last time, I knew I had scared my wife.
"As I was coming back (from the store) I saw three enormous silver balls floating in the sky... People were pulled over to the side of the road pointing.
"I ran in the house and yelled to Dana and her friend, 'Get in the car, you have got to come see this...' I had them convinced that they (balloons) were UFOs.
"When we got a lot closer we could see that there was a thin wire attached to them and that they were only balloons... Right when I realised this, I go to turn the car around and I crashed into an oncoming car and nearly killed two people."
Frantic Petty then pulled off the road and into Sandler's wedding party - where he was swarmed by the paparazzi.

He's always been a big drug user, I think.
Well damn, did he at least get some pix of it??
Oy, I love Tom Petty. He is a great songwriter and and a great performer and I'll forgive him a car crash as long as it doesn't include insane anti-semetic remarks. That said, I hate that if I choose to criticize Israel then that is taken as anti-semetism....which of course is a huge load of bullocks. It's a strange and fucked up world we're living in....

He should go on Larry King or some talk show and talk about his UFO experience. It would be hilarious.
drugs, drugs, drugs.
His wife has, sensibly, banned him from ever using the car again. Tom has, wisely, agreed.
He just strikes me as the type that would be driving around
in his pickup when the aliens would drag him in for an anal probe...

I just saw him in concert last Wednesday. Sadly, there were no UFO sightings. :p
Btw, he's still got it. Love that man.
Exactly what immediately came to my mind too. I have a friend who's "taken one too many tokes" (or a hundred thousand too many tokes) and he's seen a few UFOs in his day! And i agree with EdieBrooks--Petty has rumored to be a big drug user for a looooooooong time. Good thing he is no longer driving. That stoned dude is (obviously) a menace to society when behind the wheel of a vehicle. And i don't want anything bad to happen to Tom Petty (or of course to anyone else)--I actually love his music!

LOL, too funny! Totally loved Tom when "Damn The Torpedoes" came out. Especially loved that song "Here Comes My Girl". He has a very strange and sexy voice. I would love to see him in concert!
She is such a useless shit stain on the panties of humanity~Bitter's awesome description of K.K
Me too Sprynkles! For some reason, i'm all into Tom Petty lately (which is bizarre for me--i'm more of a Tool, My Chemical Romance, Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, System of a Down, etc., and Techno, and Rap music fan). I love "Breakdown" (the studio version, and the live version where the audience sings large parts of the song--it's cool!), "Refugee", and his duet with Stevie Nicks "Stop Dragging My Heart Around". I forgot about "Here Comes my Girl".--Great Stuff!!![]()

I like "You Got Lucky,Babe" and "Free Fallin". Guy may be a druggie but there's no doubt he's a great songwriter.
