Default More weird casting choices for the new Batman movie

From ONTD:

Ryan Phillippe may be set to take over from Tommy Lee Jones after reportedly landing the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the upcoming Batman Begins sequel. Reese Witherspoon's husband will join Heath Ledger, who has signed on to play The Joker, and new Batman Christian Bale in The Dark Knight. Crash star Phillippe beat Liev Shreiber and Josh Lucas to the role of the scheming district attorney, played by Jones in 1995 movie Batman Forever, according to internet reports. Academy Award winners Sir Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have also joined the cast, while fellow Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman is in talks to play The Penguin in the new film.

I hope that this doesn't turn into the Batman movie with George Clooney. They had all these big stars in it and it totally sucked. Why can't they follow the formula of the first movie. It didn't have big stars and it made tons of cash still.
I do love my Morgan Freeman though

It won't; Chris Nolan is still directing and he rules; he has artistic integrity and so did Tim Burton; thats why those last two Batmans (Val Kilmer and George) sucked ass!

Oh my God, I was about to post the exact same thing. The cast is not to be blamed in this case, the Batman movies with Kilmer and -particularly- Clooney were awful because of Joel Schumacher (I will never ever understand his "I feel like I'm on LSD"-interpretation of the Dark Knight, what in the world possessed him??). Great cast does not equal bad Batman movie, as long as Chris Nolan's still at the helm I'm absolutely sure the movie will kick a$$!

Anyway, the cast sounds stellar already, only a-lists everywhere! I remember when Cilian Murphy was cast as Scarecrow nobody could see it working, but it did. I'm really excited for this movie- too bad it's still 2 years away.
