DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star MARCIA CROSS was furious with BARBARA WALTERS when the US talk show host asked her about lesbian rumours in front of her parents.

Cross married businessman TOM MAHONEY in June (06), but had previously battled tabloid reports that speculated about her sexuality. And Walters decided to raise the issue during Cross' appearance on US chat show THE VIEW earlier this year (06).

The star was shocked by Walters' decision to bring up the issue, saying, "Honestly? I was not happy about it. I handled it very well at the time.

"My parents were in town. My father, who's 80-something, and my mother were in the front row of the audience (in the TV studio).

"When I got backstage, Barbara Walters came up to me and said (beforehand), 'You know, I have to ask you about this.'

"And I said, 'Why do you have to ask me about this?' And she said, 'Well, it's news.'

"At which point my publicist came in and we sorted out how to deal with it. And then, thank God - my mouth and my thoughts really came together and I felt like I spoke well at the time."

Cross claims the incident made her lose respect for the veteran newswoman adding, "I have to tell you that I am not a huge Barbara Walters fan. That ended for me.

"My dad was in the front row going, 'What did they say? Are you a what?' I just thought about Barbara, 'You didn't have to ask me that question. That was tabloid-y of you.'

"I felt really used. So now I don't really like looking at Barbara Walters!"

Barbara warned her beforehand, what's the big deal?? If she's not a lesbian, it isn't a big deal - if she is a lesbian it's only a big deall because she married a guy to cover up the fact that she's a lesbian...

I could understand Marcia's point. My parents are ultra conservative especially my dad and he would have had a heart attact if someone said I was a lesbian.

Noone said she was a lesbian. Apparently, babs asked about the rumors. She shouldn't have done the show if she didn't want anyone asking any unscripted questions that she didn't approve of previously...

Get over yourself Marcia. There has been rumors, her first marriage at an older age, and she comes off very "cool". None of that is a big deal but in Hollywood questions will be asked. Don't bring your 80 year old parents to a show where you will be interviewed. Goes with the territory. She could have also asked Barbara not to ask the question. Not she would have agreed.

Well, I think it's in poor taste to ask about someone's sexuality, especially on a nationally televised show. Why didn't Marcia Cross just turn around and say "Well, Barbara, I've heard you like it hard up the butt. Is that true?" Same difference.

If celebs stopped voluntarily talking about their stupid sex lives all the damn time, maybe the media would get the idea that it's off limits.

Has Barbara ever asked this question to any other celebrity? Would she
dare ask Tom Cruise if he was gay? What about asking Katie Holmes if
she signed a contract to be Tom's beard? What about asking Star Jones
while still employed, if her husband Al is gay? Seems like she thought
that she could get away with it in Marcia's case maybe because she's not
a big enough celebrity, on a TV program and she doesn't give a rat's
behind if she returns. Shame on Barbara.

This interview was done months and months ago...LONG before she was married. (The View was in LA for a week...so that tells you how long ago it was.)

I think this 'story' is something old, and posted by someone who is just trying to stir things up.
