Pink slams anti-Hip Hop politicians
Pink Slams Politician's Anti Hip-Hop Rant
By WENN
Aug 11, 2006
Pop punk Pink has attacked British politician David Cameron after he claimed hip-hop music encourages violence.
In June (06) the Conservative Party leader alleged the rap music played by Bbc Radio 1 "encourages people to carry guns and knives".
But Pink is outraged, comparing his outburst to criticism of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones early in their careers.
She says, "I'd love to know what he is basing that on. That's not the way to get to kids. It's an easy stereotype - almost too easy. That's how they felt about The Beatles and Mick Jagger - that they were making 'the devils music'."

Yeah, except if you look at the crime stats he's actually telling the truth. It's the whole stupid lifestyle associated with it. Get over yourself.
Raves = drugs and overdoses.
Rock = barfights and mosh deaths.
Hip hop = weed, money, bitches and murder.
There. It's reality. Deal with it.

Actually, last I knew, there aren't any recorded deaths by mosh. Now stage diving, that's another matter. I've always wanted to see someone splat against the floor from the stage.

Re: Pink slams anti-Hip Hop politicians
I don't know about Britain, but in the US plenty of factors other than rap are leading to violence (lack of education and money, for instance). Erasing rap music will not erase the problem at all. Besides, the lifestlye of weed, bitches and murder is not representative of al rap music at all...there is plenty of good stuff that doesn't make the airwaves because it isn't "ass-shaking" music. Besides in the US, most of the people who buy rap music are suburban white kids, who are not at all in the thick of all the violence and crime over here.

Lets see, people might actually listen to you when you stop peeing in public while the paps take your photo. Grow the fuck up before you start spewing beliefs that you want people to take seriously.

Re: Pink slams anti-Hip Hop politicians
I listen to all kinds of 'devil' music, as they call it, but I dont go out and kill someone. But they have to blame something for the fact that some people are just f*cked up from hopeless parenting, or just rebelling against good parenting. You cant blame music, that is just low.

I don't think anyone is so retarded to think rap is to blame for all violence, weed, bitches and murder in America, but it is certainly responsible for embracing and promoting such a myriad of unacceptable and jeuvinile bull shit I can't even start or I won't stop. I also have not heard any of this "good stuff" you say hasn't made it on the air. But as far as you saying most of the people who buy rap music are suburban white kids who are not in the thick of all the violence and crime over here...get well soon

Re: Pink slams anti-Hip Hop politicians
It definetly PROMOTES it. Its like saying skinny girls promote anorexia. Even if they're not anorexic, people will look at them and desire to have that body, so they'll starve themselves. Its like rap music. It promotes violence, murder, sex, in its lyrics, but anybody who is influenced by a song, is an idiot, and far too easily influenced.

Well have you sought out any of the "good stuff"? If you don't look of course you won't find it.
How exactly is taking rap off the air going to solve the problems? I'm not saying that all rap music is a good example for how kids should act, but attack the real problem. For instance, if some people were better parents, they would not allow their children to imitate the unacceptable and childish behavior. I can listen to rap, but I know that if I tried half the stuff I listen to I would get an ass-whipping from my parents. Of course, there are other issues involved as well, not just parenting. If you're gonna ban rap from radio, you gotta take away every other music promoting bad behavior.
And as for white kids buying most rap albums, it is true (or at least it was) true. Here's an article that says that white males 13-17 are the leading consumers of rap albums:
http://www.xula.edu/herald/issues/20...ditorials.html
And there was an article by a man named Samuels (can't remember his first name) that discussed how white male teenagers bought most rap music. I wish I could remember the book or article name...So thanks, I'm feeling just splendid

Re: Pink slams anti-Hip Hop politicians
Here's some Dead Prez lyrics, examples of socially conscious rap music:

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/dead+pr..._20038336.html

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/dead+pr..._20038334.html
http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/dead+pr..._20038327.html
I have never heard this group on the radio, because the media doesn't want that image. There's other good artists too, like Common,Talib Kweli, BlackStar, Afu-Ra, KRS-One, The Roots, De La Soul...So rap music is NOT all about gangbanging, bling, and bitches.
