JETTISONS J.R.
JENNIFER Lopez isn't saying why she suddenly left the cast of "Dallas" - but an industry insider tells us there are two very big reasons - a subpar script and the less-than-strapping John Travolta, who was to play J.R. Ewing opposite J.Lo's Sue Ellen. "The script sucks," our source says. "And John Travolta? If it had been a man's man like Ed Harris or Tommy Lee Jones . . . but you don't just go from doing 'Hairspray' to 'Dallas.' "

"The script sucks," our source says.
Gee, what a surprise.

Re: Why Did J-LO Ditch Dallas?
Well, I can't blame her there. Kissing Travolta wouldn't be much fun these days. But I think she would have been better cast as Bobby Ewing's wife (can't remember her name...I was more of a Dynasty fan).

Re: Why Did J-LO Ditch Dallas?
Sorry, but I'd prefer Travolta to Harris or Jones. This girl's on an ego trip and it's not like she's entitled to one. I'm certain Travolta had visions of Gigli when he heard she was coming on board!

Re: Why Did J-LO Ditch Dallas?
The whole production makes me want to wretch. I've heard Travolta's take on a southern accent before and it's horrendous. At least JHo is going to spare us.

Buttmunch, you're talking about a woman who swaps slobber with Marc Anthony - god, I just got uncontrollable goosebumps and my gag reflex kicked into overdrive....

Re: Why Did J-LO Ditch Dallas?
Now why did you have to remind me of that? I'll never keep food down today after that.

Re: Why Did J-LO Ditch Dallas?
I don't blame J-Lo for bowing out of this impending crap-fest. Like the article says, John Travolta as J.R. Ewing????!?? I've never even seen Dallas, but from what i understand, the character of J.R. Ewing is a manly tough guy. So again i say: old, fat, has-been, gayer-than-a-picnic-basket John Travolta?!?!? I would have bowed out too! Never mind "bowed out", i would have run away screaming as fast as i could as soon i heard Travolta was cast!

Re: Why Did J-LO Ditch Dallas?
I don't know that I'd call J.R. Ewing a manly, tough guy exactly. He's more of a snake in the grass that covers it with good 'ol boy charm. He was a manipulator. Travolta does come across as very slithery, but he's not J.R., either. I don't know who would be, but Travolta it ain't.
Jennifer Lopez as Lucy was so ridiculous, it defied explaination.

Re: Why Did J-LO Ditch Dallas?
true - why ask why? Let's just not look a gift horse in the mouth - who in the hell is likely to see this anyway??

Perfect take on JR. I agree. He wasn't necessarily a manly man. He was a god ol' boy who was also sort of slimy and overweight. He wasn't exactly a hunk. I can sort of see JT playing the role well. He's a fat, slimy guy with a bad southern accent. I can't see JHo fitting anywhere into the cast though. Certainly not as Sue Ellen or Lucy.
