HOLLYWOOD - Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty was reduced to tears last week after seeing a tabloid magazine cover declaring she'd had drastic plastic surgery, and is planning to sue the magazine.

Star magazine featured Doherty on the cover with the headline "Extreme Makeover" and insinuated that she'd had a variety of plastic surgery procedures.

She appeared on talk show The View as a guest co-host today where she lashed out at the tabloid and said she had hired a lawyer to sue the publication.

When moderator Barbara Walters asked Doherty if she'd ever had plastic surgery she replied, "No. I'm actually willing to go so far as to go sit down with whatever plastic surgeon they want to put in front of me who can inspect my face.

"I went to work and my lovely hairdresser David came to me and said, 'Oh my God, did you see the cover of Star?' and I went, 'No, why?' He told me and then he pulled it up online."

Doherty was left so distraught by the story, that production had to be stopped on her new series, Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty.

She explains, "Production got halted for about an hour and a half because I was sobbing uncontrollably.

"If you didn't have it (plastic surgery) and they're saying that you did, then it's embarrassing, it's humiliating.

"I don't know if anybody's noticed, but I've pretty much been hiding out as much as humanly possible. I've been trying to stay out of the press because I just don't want it in my life anymore.

"I hired a litigator and I'm willing to put as much money behind a lawsuit as humanly possible, just to sort of teach them a lesson."

I personally believe that if she was going to get PS, she should have done something with those dog teeth of hers. Maybe she'll get enough money that from suing this tabloid that she can get veneers like the rest of hollywood...

She may have had the boob job but she pointedly said she'd let a plastic surgeon examine her face. But somehow I can't imagine this woman getting that upset. I smell a desperate need for cash.

She was guest co-host on the View yesterday and they talked about the cover. She was very upset, she said she has purposely been trying to stay home and out of the tabloids and then she was shown the cover and she had to halt production of her new show for a couple hours because she was crying.

She said that people should not hire the Doctors that "claim" she had PS because they are wrong. She also said she got attorneys, but because the articles has tricky words like "it appears", "it looks like" it will be hard to sue because they did not flat out say she has had PS. Furthermore, her lips yesterday were nothing like the pic on the Magazine.

She also said its a two-edged sword to talk about it because it gives the magazine publicity and that is NOT what she wants at all.

I do feel sorry for her in this case only....but from all the other stuff we have all read and seen about Shannon my only statement is....paybacks a bitch when it comes back at ya girlfriend.....

^^ That about sums it up, PB! My thoughts exactly. Shannen Doherty's a bitchy drama queen who i have never been able to stand. (When i was like 13 years old and a big Beverly Hills 90210 fan, i even considered joining that infamous "I Hate Brenda" fanclub! --or would it be called a "Hateclub"?) She needs to get the f*ck over it. 99.9% of the people in the world have WAY bigger problems than this issue.

I saw this cover in the grocery store yesterday, and couldn't stop staring at it. It was so bizarre. I think I even mumbled OMG out loud. Maybe it's photoshopped but it looked like she's had the typical crap celebs are having these days - lip augmentation & eye lifts. Somebody (happy?) on here just said that her lips didn't look like that on The View, so something is fishy here.

The cover showed an old picture of her to compare, and the difference reminded me of Kenny Rogers. They both had eyes with smallish eyelids, which although is not ideally the preferred look, it was attractive on them. When Kenny had his eyes done, it gave him larger-looking eyelids but whatever it was about his face that made him look special & different was gone. Same with Shannen, on that cover.

I'm very curious if that picture was photoshopped. If it wasn't, then I can't believe that she's had nothing done.
